Hello guys and girls :)

I got my Essix Retainers today (The see through ones).

I dont know anything about them or the do's and donts really. All I have been told is that I have to take them out to clean my teeth and eat.

What about drinking? Im guessing its okay to drink with them in. What about hot drinks, tea and coffee etc??

Sorry if its a dumb question! I'm just really unsure.

All the best.

Hannah

Nah, not dumb at all !

You saw the pics of my Essix retainers. You can see there is saliva caught in them.
So I guess drinks will "leak in" too. And they will stay there all the time until you
take your retainers out to clean. Not sure if this is harmful, but I can't stand the idea
of drinks caught in there for some hours or more. So, yes, I take them out to drink
too, but I have them in when I drink water. That can't be harmful I think.

Thanks Clo.
Thats really helpful.

Do you get used to taking them out all the time? It seems like so much hassle.

It is not a problem for me, as I do not drink or eat much between the meals. But
I know it will get easier in time to remove them. The first times I removed them,
I feared some teeth would be pulled out and remained fixed in the retainers,
eh, so to speak. My retainers felt very tight. They still do, but they slip off more
easily now.

Thanks CLo,

Yeah, mine feel tight, and when I take them out to eat or clean then I also feel like my teeth are giong to rip out. lol.

I had alot of achyness yesterday, but it was my first day of wearing them.

I guess I will get used to taking them out etc when I have to eat. Its just at work is going to be a pain :(
