Fixing my teeth & bite at 27
Hello all
I thought I should introduce myself properly. I am a 27 year old female from Australia
I just recently got Damon self ligitating braces (one week ago). I'm not going to go into a whole story about my history but really my teeth never bothered me up until maybe 3-4 years ago when they became crowded and my bite started to open. (Dental open bite not skeletal)
My crowding on my lowers were the worst because I had one tooth further back but higher up. I ended up becoming so self conscious about it that I knew I had to do something. My estimated time is 18 months but the pessimist in me is doubting that.
So far I have had a good start no ulcers. I'm eating soft food at the moment because its too awkward to chew I can't bite with my front teeth either. I am enjoying eating lots of mashed potato, soup, sausages and pasta because it is really cold at the moment.
My only issue I have had is some pain but pretty much gone now but also a bit of a lisp with some words which is challenging after a full day of work. Haha. I am a teacher and my kids LOVE them! The parents haven't said anything but I think they would feel to awkward to bring it up.
Anyway enough about that I will upload pics of day 1 and day 7. Some movement already with the long tooth!

Good luck with your treatment! Looking forward to your progress. Your top teeth are already pretty straight. Can't wait to get mine on. I work with kids too, so I expect/hope that showing up at work in braces shouldn't be too much of an adjustment.

Two weeks tomorrow no pain when eating but still pressure on diff teeth.

Can't see your pictures yet but I will be following your story
I almost got Damon but decided to settle for ceramics
My Ortho says Damon is really fast so I'm sure your 18 months estimate is pretty doable

Haha u have to do a certain amount of posts before you can view. They are def moving a lot. People who had braces years or decades ago told me it will stop moving after the first week or so but I have had a lot of movement and pressure. When do you get yours on?uche123 wrote:Wow! Sounds like you're content with your Damons. Did you get full metal or clear? ...Can't see your pictures yet but will check them out once I'm able to. The same thing that happened to uche123 will probably happen to me lol.
Oh, and, thanks for your post on one of my threads! I decided to go the non-surgical route & found orthodontists who will put me in braces & have 2 uppers extracted. Just gotta decide on which braces for 2 years.

Ceramic top metal bottom! They are a bit bulkier the ceramic so glad I have the metal at the bottom as that's where my crowding is (for now anyway)

Good luck with your treatment! Can't see your pictures yet. Too bad I am 28, and got my Damon ceramic braces a few months ago!
I will do follow your story! x

Nearly 3 months in. Just broke a bracket tonight. It feels strange I have a big blob of wax holding it ATM.
