Delays, Easter and drama?

#1 Post by Len »

Hello, It's so good to have this forum and people to talk to because I seriously need advice.
Well, last week I should have gotten my separators for my molars but I was so sick I needed to reschedule and so I went to the doctor yesterday and I brought my X ray for the first time and made all the orthodontical studies. Then my doctor told me I can't have my separators and braces yet because I needed to have two cavities taken care of. She took care of them for me and I need to get there next week for the separators. Supposedly she said I need to have the molar ring for a week before I get my actual braces so instead of putting my braces on March 10Th I'm gonna put them on March 31st because of Easter. Plus she told me I need to take two wisdom teeth out before I get my bottom braces in two/three months so it's an extra cost I didn't see coming. It's ok I'm going at it but It looks like there's so many things to do before finally achieving my goal. I'm going through a battle to get my braces on and I get so frustrated so I needed to ask you guys if that's like that to everyone? Did you guys feel like you needed to struggle to get your braces on? Is this always such a long process before I get a straight smile?
P.S: Is it normal that suddenly everyone I know thinks they're a specialist who tells me "I'm eventually needing to pull some teeth out" even though I repeatedly tell them I don't?

To update the saga, today I got the spacers. They hurt a lot. I asked my doctor to put the braces a week early so that I can use Easter break to recover and get used to eating with braces so I'm going to officially get them on March 24th.
I got my spacers like three hours ago and got two cavities taken care of. The doctor said my teeth were so tight together she could barelly fit the rubber bands and it hurt so much I thought I was going to get my teeth removed or something.
Right now all my mouth feels sore and my gums hurt like crazy so I took some meds and I'm waiting for them to work. I'm kind of worried because I have a presentation for tomorrow and I need to speak but right now it hurts so much. I couldn't eat anything yet because of the pain.

Sorry you're having such a hard time!! I know a lot of people, including myself, who have had to overcome many obstacles before being able to get braces. There's the financial aspect, planning everything just right, the research, the consultations, changes in plans, etc. It can all be very frustrating!!! Just hang in there and know it is perfectly normal to be faced with challenges when you are trying to make a change in your life. It will all the worth it in the end! :D
