Hey all!

So today I had my last adjustment ever! And in exactly one week, my braces will be gone!

I had the mold done for my lower bonded retainer... that certainly was interesting. It was done with wire and ligs still on, so brushing out all the gunk afterword was loads of fun! :?

Also, I no longer have to wear my class II elastic! Yay!

Nothing else new to report. I'm very excited for next Tuesday though!

Tomorrow I will try to update with pics so you can see my new powerchains - hot pink on top, and lime green on bottom!

Here's a picture of my powerchains!

Also... my teeth look very crooked in this picture? Strange. :?

They don't look crooked to me. I'm sure your teeth are just fine.

My braces are OFF!

I am so happy... it feels really strange though.
The process was quite long and I hate to say it, but it actually hurt a fair amount when the brackets were popped off. Grinding off the glue wasn't too pleasant either. After 3 hours in the chair, here are the results:

And with my upper Essix retainer:

I can't close my bite properly with the retainer in, hopefully this wont cause any problems.

My teeth look massive! I was shocked when I first looked in the mirror! And they look a lot better than I expected... not too much discolouration or anything. I may whiten my teeth in the near future.

I've got a bonded retainer on the lower arch, and the glue feels very rough right now. I was told this was normal and that I'd get used to it.

I feel like smiling all the time now! :D

Congrats, stargirl!!! :-)o :-)o :-)o

Your teeth look fantastic; I can't blame you for wanting to smile all the time! Hopefully you will quickly adjust to the bonded retainer and the essix won't cause you any problems.

Congrats again! :-)o

I read your entire story in one sitting - and then felt like I had cheated thru your journey. What lasted months for you took me minutes - hardly seems fair. ;)

It also doesn't seem fair that you are completely out - free from the binds of the bands and brackets and elastics! Good for you and many many congrats. Your teeth look amazing - and to borrow the term from someone on the board who's name I can't quite recall - they look like little "chicklets" all in a row.

PERFECT!

thats what i'm afraid of- when i had one bracket removed for an actual bracket it killed to take off! :( I hear it can hurt or not, depends on the glue used... hopefully it didnt' hurt too much- and its all worth it! check out those peraly whites! :)

Thanks, everyone. I would say my braces journey was definitely worth it. I am really happy with the results! I have received many compliments on my teeth... but I feel weird saying thank you! Haha... they should thank my orthodontist!

I'm feeling a little sore from the retainer, and the glue on my bonded retainer is rubbing against my tongue - but I could care less right now because I am amazed with my teeth. I didn't think they'd ever look this good!

Thanks to everyone who has followed my story and has been supportive over the past year and a half. I will definitely continue to update about my experience in retainers!

Hopefully I'll be seeing your naked teeth in the near future!
