starting braces at 40!

#1 Post by petal »

It is Friday afternoon, I will be getting my braces on Monday morning. I am excited and a little nervous. I am so glad to have found this forum. I am reading stories, finding a lot of answers to my questions, and looking forward to the support that this group will offer. I have been living with jaw pain the last few years and finally realized I can spend the next 18 months in braces or the next 40 years in pain. I started thinking about braces two years ago...just think if I would have followed through I would have already been done! I find myself staring at peoples teeth, spending a lot of time online doing brace research, and staring at my own teeth in the mirror each day. I am ready for this adventure! Thanks for sharing your stories with me. I will let you know how things go on Monday!

thank you, fleur26! I am still trying to figure out how to do postings, etc on here. Do you know how to add the ticker? I love the idea so much, I must have one.

I would love to add wings to my snail ticker so the next 18 months will fly by! Like most things in life, this journey will be what I make it. I hope I can enjoy this time and wear my braces proudly, hopefully, this will be the only time in my life where I will have the opportunity to wear braces! Have not started yet, but I am already excited to see the end result!

thank you both so much for the support! It gives me confidence to know that there are others going through the same thing. fleur26, starting at the same time makes us brace buddies!

I am failing at posting pics tonight, it can not be as difficult as it seems. Rats, I really wanted to have some on here, so tomorrow I can post the new ones with braces.
after seeing the pics of my teeth, makes me very glad to be getting braces asap! I think I have been in denial of how much they needed help.

Congratulations on taking the plunge!! I'm only 6 weeks or so in, but already can see such a difference. Best decision ever. And I thought I would be so self-conscious but I'm absolutely not. I've found the less bothered I am, the less other people seem to notice them.
