AND THE MOMENT U ALL BEEN WAITING FOR.. ME AS WELL LOL

#49 Post by chillin-in-grilz »

This is how my day went

I arrived exactly at 1:30. And as I was signing in, my name was called. I walked in, they cleaned my teeth, did all the usual for uppers and lowers. It was really irrating with the lip spreaders. Then as they were putting on the brackets. I was watching with the mirror. 45 mins, the brackets were on. They removed the lip spreaders, my lips were so dry. I then felt the brackets on my lips. And my lips were puckered out lol. Then I kepted having the metal taste swallowed lol. I looked at myself in the mirror. I said "O My", my mother is gonna laugh her head off. I had no pain. Then the assistant put on the arch wire. It got tighter as she clipped the wire in. On my lower right side the clip there really hurt. :ouch: But went away in a few mins. Then when the wires were on, I said O My again lol. I actually looked pretty decent. Then I went home. Had 2 puddings lol. My teeth did not hurt at this point. Then after as I was watching tv, I started to feel the pressure (pain, but my lowers were more sensitive then my uppers). I had supper with out a hitch. Had salmon and potatoe. Went really well, but teeth sensitive. Then I felt I had a chunk of fish in my bracket. Went to the bathroom, I was right so I removed it then brushed my teeth. Now as of right now, mild pain because I took 2 extra strength tyenol before supper. And that was my day lol HORRAY.

I tried dental wax but it was really annoying. What do you mean by salt rinses?

Congrats on finally getting your braces. It looks like you have the Damon Brackets. Do you? That's what I have. The wires I have now are flat, as opposed to my first ones that were small and round. I think the Damon's stick out more than regular brackets :(, but they are better in the long run.

With the Damon's your teeth are constantly moving. One week you may feel irritation on the upper right side and the next week on the lower left. It changes as the teeth move. Personally I use tons of wax. Of course, then I whistle when I talk. Speaking will get easier, especially as your teeth begin to straighten out more. I use wax, 'cause I can't stand the inside of my mouth being scratched.

I'm glad you're taking extra strength pain med. The first week or two is the worst. Day 2, worse than Day 1. But I promise, it does get so much better. Hang in there :)

I am not sure what kind they are. When do I do the rinses? Like morning and night?

I'M SIMPLY STATING MY OPINION WHICH I'M ENTITLED TO, EVEN IF YOU DON'T AGREE WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DON'T WORK FOR, NOR AM I AN ACTIVIST FOR DAMON. NOT EVERYONE IS FIGHTING A "CAUSE" LIKE YOU APPARENTLY ARE.

JUST BECAUSE I LIKE WHAT I HAVE DOES NOT MEAN I'M UP TO NO GOOD OR THAT I'M AN IDIOT WHO CAN'T DISCERN ADVERTISING FROM TRUTH.

Hey Karen, you should get a sticky post at the top of this forum with info about the salt water rinses. :D Then you could link to it and save yourself some typing.

I am still in pain now. Now today my 2 front teeth are hurting and my jaw teeth. Yesterday it was somewhere else. It seems to me every couple of hours a different section of the teeth are hurting.

Now I have this huge sore on the top right lip, it hurts so much from the braces rubbing on it. So I took a whole bunch of wax and plastered it on there. Its covering the whole right side of my teeth lol, like a mouth guard.

Should I keep doing that or should I leave it alone so my cheeks can get used to the braces?

Update

#60 Post by chillin-in-grilz »

Its been 4 days with braces now:) The teeth tenderness is almost gone. I can eat better now. But, I still have a sore on the upper cheek but its alot better. It was the brackets rubbing, it was the wire:(

But I put on the dental wax like a mouth guard lol. Brushing teeth is still difficult. But its getting better :) Since the wire is not very strong but who knows:)

Do I look ok with the braces? :) Be honest now. I had ppl that said they look retarded lol.

Does it hurt when you get adjustments? I mean like if they changed something like a stronger wire? I just got the most flexible one right now.
