Re: Oldfart Orthodontic Diary
Not the best pitcure in the world. But you can see the Tad above the two premolars. Apt is wed to connect it to the wire to secure it while they start dragging that big molar sucker forward.
Only pain was the numbing shot. Felt absolutely nothing afterwards. The only bummer is I am wearing class IIs on that side to bring it back a bit. And the Tad pushed it forward just a tad (bad pun I know) so the bite is back being off a bit.
Oh well. Wed should be a big apt.

Re: Oldfart Orthodontic Diary
Glad to see you are making progress but that thing looks like it would hurt like hell being put in!

Re: Oldfart Orthodontic Diary
I posted the process in another thread. No pain inserting it, just a numbing shot like you get when having a filling

Yes, I remember that thread. Still, I would not be keen to have something like that inserted into my mouth!

Re: Oldfart Orthodontic Diary
Happy Happy Happy. Okay, a long ways from being done, but had the apt that I have been waiting a year for. Finally am working on pulling the molar forward to close up the extraction site.
The biggest concern was instead of the molar being pulled forward, it would pull everything back. To fix this they:
1) Had me get the tad installed. (see previous few posts)
2) Attach a wire from that tad to the back premolar. This is to help prevent it from being pulled back.
3) Attached a button/small bracket on the inside part of the same pre molar.
4) Wire lace tied the whole upper arch to help secure it.
5) Added an elastic chain on both the inside and the outside from the molar to the back premolar to start closing the gap.
And bumped my triangle forward one tooth so it hits top and bottom canines (and tooth behind the bottom one). Continued class II on the other side. Its a bit odd as that far forward the Triangle really prevents my mouth from opening. Tried eating ice cream with them in last night and kept missing my mouth.
No pain at all, but honestly hope to feel some soon in that molar as that means its moving.
Will do photos later, especially of the tad setup.

Well, you sort of do. You could have been here on the forum venting your spleen every other day, right?

Re: Oldfart Orthodontic Diary
No. I just upload pictures every other day. Oh, heres one of the tad setup. The wire is glued onto the tad and then the tooth to keep it from sliding back as the molar is attempted to be pulled forward.
