OWIE! My new aligner (#7 of 29) is sharp on the edges!!

#1 Post by djrobsd »

My new aligner I just put in last night is sharp on the edges, and it's tearing up my tongue. I finally had to take it out to get some relief. Is there anything I can do, such as file the plastic down, or wax or something to help?

That happens me every so often too. One or two as my teeth moved I no longer felt it sharp as my teeth obviously moved a little and the aligner wasn't in the same position. One was so bad I had to file a it a little and the relief was huge. I'm not sure if it affects anything but I'm over half way through now and the ortho is very happy with my results :D

My starter kit came with "strings" of wax. I was told to smooth any rough edges with the WAX.
