My comic for others who have Invisalign visibility insecurities

It's true that Invisalign trays are visible...but they aren't nearly as noticeable as I originally feared (and I have attachments on my front teeth!). I drew this comic for others who may be going through Invisalign visibility insecurities.

What I find helps: To force yourself to forget that you're wearing Invisalign trays in public. It's hard in the beginning I know -- I kept feeling as if EVERYONE WAS LOOKING AT MY MOUTH. But then I thought how I perceived others while talking with them, even if they had unusual facial or dental features. Yes, I'll notice briefly...but then that fades into the background while I'm focusing on the PERSON and the CONVERSATION.

And if anyone does ask or notice, I'll just tell them about my Invisalign treatment.

Another piece of advice which I have found GREATLY helps me, especially since I do a lot of work travel and presentations (and am often in public restrooms flossing/brushing while others are present!): to just go ahead and do my thing, and not to be embarrassed. When people take photos of me, I just smile normally. Sometimes the attachments show a bit but again...people don't usually focus on that kind of detail.

I'm starting to post more about my Invisalign experience because I'm now 2/3 way through my trays and am SO grateful to all the generous/useful posts that people have made in this forum, posts that helped me early on. I figure it's time for me to give back. :)

Thanks for sharing this.

I am feeling less awkward of brushing my teeth in public now, but not flossing my teeth!
I have kids starting at me as I am brushing my teeth.

I have to admit I hate the cleaning process when I am in a stinky toilet though :-(

Heh...I totally sympathize re: cleaning process when in a toilet stall! Especially in airplane toilet stalls. :-\

Amazing. Love this! We often tell patients that the only people that will notice are those who are or who have had Invisalign treatment, and those who are Invisalign providers. Thanks for sharing!
