Jaw surgery after extraction + braces

Hi everyone,
When I was a teenager I had 4 extractions + braces in order to fix an overbite, which I chose over jaw surgery.

However, I regret that choice as I am left with lip incompetence & a weird looking jaw. Since I still mouth-breathe when sleeping, my lower teeth have started getting slightly crooked again, which I assume will keep getting worse over the years.

Do you know of anyone that ended up having surgery even after a similar treatment? Did it require going in braces again for ~2 years?
