Post double jaw surgery question

Hi everyone, I'm new here Glad to have found this board. I had double jaw surgery on july 3. So I am 15 days out. I was a lefort 1, my upper was moved up 1 mm and forward 2mm, and my lower jaw was brought forward 14mm. My question is when I saw the surgeon today for the 2 week visit he took bands off and I got to brush my teeth. My tongue is so nasty. I asked him about it, but he said it was normal and that it wasnt thrush. It just look so gross. Did anyone else have this or notice it? I couldnt brush it bc I couldn't get the brush in good enough.
