Alternatives to jaw surgery

#1 Post by britangerine »

Anybody know of any?

I've had a TMJ appliance to reposition my lower jaw and keep it in a stable position. Now I'm seeking orthodontics with a possible palate expander. Anyone have a a similar experience?

How did that TMJ appliance for your lower jaw work out for you? I've read some great things about appliance and splints being used to reposition the jaw and while some people say it worked great for them, others have said it made things worse on their joints.

Hi! I am 39 and have just started my journey into orthodontics. I received my palate expander on Monday and am to turn it once two times a week. I've just turned it for the second time tonight. Hoping this works for me!

Have you had a few consults with ortho's for your specific case?
