Getting ready for SARPE surgery

#1 Post by Raerae2639 »

Hi all,
This is my first post. I got my expander installed last week and my surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday, the 8th. I am starting to feel nervous because even though I have had surgery in the past, and I am used to post-surgical pain this one seems complicated for me. I am a type one diabetic and am worried about blood sugar management post-surgery, so how long did you have to really go on the liquid diet/mushy food? I am also a vocal music/general music teacher and I am concerned about my ability to work effectively while my palate heals. Is this all really worth it for the 2mm of space the ortho says I am going to gain? She seems to think this will help with my sinus issues some, but I have this nagging thought regretting postponing my original septoplasty/sinus surgery I had scheduled. Thanks in advance for any input.
