What should I do about my jaw?

#1 Post by emlephant »

Hi!!! I really hope I'm not spamming, I just have a lot of questions!!!

For some reason my jaw has been very sensitive. Over the past month for maybe a day I couldn't open my mouth more than an inch. But then I'd open it super wide and it'd pop and it'd be okay. For the past four days I haven't been able to widen my jaw a lot so it could pop due to the pain. I told my ortho about this and he put me in rubber bands. Has anyone had anything like this? If so, what did you/your ortho do? thanks so much!!

I got a similar issue. Due to my excessive overbite, my jaw would click and sometimes even grind against my head. It is really annoying. Luckily my smile is fixing together with jaw.

It happens when i yawn, eat something that is gummy but hard to cut through with teeth, or when i try to talk while laying on bed in the side position.

One suggestion: inject some WD40 in your moving parts of the jaw (just kidding dont try to do that ;))

Go find an orthodontist who knows how to treat it. I was in permanent close lock for about a year before I sought treatment. Splints to properly reposition my mandible and time restored my opening. Now I have braces so the teeth can replace the splints.

I have a jaw problem as well and it really does suck! I have a 5mm overbite and I'm currently using bands to correct it. My ortho is also watching my TMJ because that could flare up and become a problem. Most of the time, the orthos know what they're talking about.
