Oh happy days!! yesterday my bite plane was removed - 6 weeks ahead of schedule!! How happy am I!!
To those out there who may have to have one of these contraptions - stick with it if you can, speaking personally, the sense of acheivement at getting through it was immense!
It wasn't easy, eating was decidedly unpleasant and I have to admit that a week or so into it, I considered giving up. But the feeling of euphoria when my back teeth finally met was incredible! I felt as if I had done all the work personally!
Now working on getting my speech back to normal and can't wait to see the new movement that's about to happen to my top teeth - they went really out of line but because of the bite plane, we couldn't close up gaps etc. Now the movement starts again!
All I can say is WOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Bite plane out after 4 1/2 months! YAY!!!

It took a while for the lisp to go and even then, it would come and go but overall speaking did get easier but never quite normal. Towards the end I had real problems with the letter r and I couldn't do the combination of th to save my life!
My s is off slightly now but that's because my front teeth have shifted forward - I hadn't realised how much til the plane came out. I am so looking forward to seeing the gaps disappear and my front teeth move back.
It does get easier but all in all I'm glad it's out! Good luck with yours.
