Bends in the wires...

#1 Post by ashesgap »

The last three months my ortho has been putting bends in my wires. This is by far the most pain i've had. At least with the spring and lingual button the pain was only on a couple of teeth. The first time he only put a couple bends in the bottom wire, and that hurt pretty bad. The second time he added a whole ton more and that was painful. This last time he put a bunch in my top wire and I can hardly chew. I still have pain on the bottoms from the previous adjustment. For the first time since the first month of braces I woke up in the middle of the night from the pain. Thank goodness I'm almost done, cause I want to eat.
On the good side I can feel that my bite is fitting together really well. And after all this time I still call my ortho an Evil Genius.

Pain is no good, that's for sure. But, if I were you, I would have been as happy as I could be, because: 1. I am going to take the braces off very soon; and 2. my bite is really comfortable.
I personally would die for the last one, so be very happy and good luck to you! 8)
Had full mouth metal braces for 21 months. Debonded April 2013. Now wearing clear plastic retainers every other night.

I have no formal dental or orthodontic education. Hence, all opinions expressed by me on this forum are those of an "informed consumer" and by no means intended as an expert advice.
