Elastics

#1 Post by fooforever »

Well its comming up to me first adjustment on thursday and I've been wondering
I have the stick/hook things on the top of a few braces and on the bottom of a few and also on the back brackets
I've not been told much about me treatment but im guessing Im in for the ride with elastics

So my question is when did everybody get there elastics if you have had any? Early? Later on ? Middle ? Right from the start?

The hooks on the brackets are standard so you may or may not be getting elastics.

I got them at 6 months and had them for the rest of treatment (a further 15 months).

I have been wearing elastics since day 1. Like other mentioned before, the little hooks are standard in some of the brackets but it doesnt mean you will get them for sure. It depends on the treatment.

I had those hooks and the only time i had elastics was post surgery for about 4 months. (then they put on extra hooks so didnt use the ones on the braces anyway!)

They did use the little hooks for powerchains during my treatment tho.

I was in braces for over 3 years before I got my elastics. I've had them for 5 months now and they have really helped to settle my bite.

Something to look forward to, Bracedagain!

I have had them since day one of treatment. I have had a total of three different strengths so far and four different arragements. I have some brackets with hooks on them specifically for elastics and then they have put hooks on brackets where I needed them.

Personally, I like my elastics. They have done wonders for my crossbite, midline, and jaw. They feel comfortable too --- but in the beginning, they hurt like crazy!

I have had my braces for 11 months and just got elastics yesterday! I knew it was coming, we talked about it but this is the most pain I've been in since I got my braces on!
