Braces survival kit

#1 Post by LaLaDee »

Have you purchased the kit available from DentaKit.com? Are you glad you did? Maybe you've made your own survival kit...if so, what's in it? I will be newly braced soon and would like to be prepared.

Not bought the kit but just having a look through it now

I'd say I've needed (aside from usual toothbrush, interdental brushes and toothpaste)

1. a small compact mirror to check my teeth after eating out
(my husband is absolutely useless at spotting food stuck in my braces unless it's like smack you in the face obvious!)

2. a dental pick

3. painkillers

4. bonjella for mouth ulcers

4. wax!

5. bottle of water (I seem to have one with me permanently)

I bought the Dentakit just before being braced myself and really liked it. I suppose I could have gone to Walgreens and bought the majority of items in the kit , but it was nice to have everything together in one place. I also bought the braces bumpers from Dentakit , they were fantastic since they offered a smooth surface for my cheeks until they toughened up to the brackets. One thing I did buy extra from the store was a tube of Orajel .

I was given a kit from my ortho's office that was similar to the one on the website. I have learned to carry just the essentials in my purse all the time and leave most of the bigger things at home. I honestly vary from day to day what I carry because I change things in and out - floss rarely gets packed. Wax is a miracle cure and my bottle of pain meds work nicely -- CHAPSICK is vital too!!
