Hey all,

I've always been kind of insecure about my smile, but I've never been able to get braces(I'm 21). All of my teeth are straight except for the teeth outside of my front two teeth, if that makes sense. They stick out a bit and they're a little bit shorter than the rest of my teeth.

So I was wondering, if I just need my front 4 straightened would it be cheaper than getting full braces? Or does it matter?..

And also can I have crowns put on those two teeth to make them in line with the rest of my teeth? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As I understand it most orthos charge based upon the length of treatment time which is a direct reflection on difficulty of the case. If your bite is good and your needs are minor the cost should be less than if you were a difficult case. With your concerns you may be a good candidate for Invisalign. Understand by their nature, Invisalign is more expensive than traditional metal or ceramic braces.

The only way to truly know the cost is to do an actual consult.

Aah, thanks. Well growing up I was never told that I needed braces, and I visited the dentist quite regularly. It's just an appearance issue more than anything... and the last time I went to the dentist which was a year or so ago he said everything was fine, and that I could get minor orthadontics if I wanted. Minor being the word he used.. So I guess i'll just have to schedule an appointment like you said to know for sure.

Definitely go see an orthodontist :)

As iBorg says, if you have a good bite (your molars all line up nice and you can bite down on them evenly), then you may not need a long time in braces - or could be a candidate for Invisalign.

I also only have problems with my front teeth and fortunately my bite is perfect. I'm in braces and only my front teeth have to move. My max treatment time is 21 months but if your case isn't as severe as mine you could be in for a much shorter spell :D

I scheduled a consultation today.

Like I was saying though my bite is fine, and my bottom teeth are all straight. It's just that my two front teeth are pushed back out of line a bit from the rest of my other teeth... That or the two teeth outside of my front teeth stick out a bit... AND they're a bit shorter than the rest of my other teeth.

So i'm not sure whether it'll be cheaper or if any line of teeth straightening is in the 5k dollar range. Most likely i'm going to have to finance it.

I had one tooth that was crooked... my left canine, stuck out a bit. I went in and off we were. I was completely wrong. My bite was off and I have some recession on a tooth on the lower jaw... and my wisdom teeth were impacted.. lol. Lets just say I am going to have a full mouth of braces. Hope you can just fix four. I have heard of that, and actually I only have braces on the left side from my canine back... sounds do able to me!
