$3,700 bite equillibration and splint therapy before braces?

#1 Post by dreamyeyedme »

Hi, I am new here. My teeth and bite are crooked/off and I went to an orthodontist, thinking that I should get braces or invisaligns on my teeth and then they could do a bite adjustment after all is said and done. Well, when I went in for a consult, the ortho told me that I should get a thorough bite adjustment done before he would even consider recommending braces. The bite equillibration (would be done by a bite equillibration specialist) along with the splint therapy using an NTI device that will need to be done before the bite adjustment is performed will run roughly around $3,700 in total.

Two questions for you all:

1. I am confused as to why the bite equillibration would need to be done BEFORE braces are put on because my understanding is that I would need to get my bite adjusted after the braces come off anyway. Does the orthodontists suggestion sound valid?

2. Does the cost of the bite equillibration and splint therapy seem kind of high to anyone here? To me, that is getting very close to the cost of braces ?!?!

Thanks so much in advance,

Kristine

I Can't really answer the questions but I would suggest getting more then just one consultation done.
