Nickel free Linguals?

#1 Post by MissLou »

Hi all,

I was wondering whether any of you have come across any nickel-free lingual braces?

I thought Incognito were nickel-free but apparently although the brackets are gold and nickel-free, the archwires used with Incognito are actually nickel-titanium. I was told this by an ortho yesterday.

IMO, your orthodontist isn't trying hard enough. Many suppliers make brackets, arch wires, and other supplies that are nickel-free. If he or his staff does the research, they can find the correct ones for you.
I'm the owner/admin of this site. Had ceramic uppers, metal lowers ~3 years in my early 40's. Now in Hawley retainers at night!

I think you're right. She did say she'd order in special nickel free wires but that she couldn't do anything about the brackets. Hmm.
