Re: Getting sick with braces and elastics
Ick. Poor thing *hugs*. I know exactly how you feel as I just threw up for the first time since getting my braces too. It's weird, I just came on here to look for advice and here was your thread on the first page. I'd like to try the baking soda and salt in the waterpik. What is the correct ratio fo...

Re: Staining my ceramic braces
The braces themselves shouldn't stain unless your oral hygeine is extremely bad. I've had mine for 8 months and they're fine. It's the elastics that you have to worry about. They stain very quickly if you drink coffee, tea or red wine or eat things like curry.

Re: New gap between front teeth!
I had the exact same thing in the early stages of treatment! Everytime I looked in the mirror it was all I could see. Got used to it pretty quickly though and it was gone again a few weeks later.

Re: Electric Toothbrush VS Non-Electric Toothbrush
I prefer my electric toothbrush. I use large interdental brushes to clean under the wires and the sides of the brackets and then I use my electric toothbrush. I prefer it as it has a smaller head and I can get to everything. I tend to brush too hard and so it is better for me to use the electric tha...

Re: Waterpik
I consider it to be a very worthwhile purchase. It's just so useful for getting stuff out of small spaces. I didn't use it much when I just had the wires and brackets but once the other stuff like powerchains and springs went on it became an integral part of my routine. I think the reason that it is...

Re: Embarrassed to show, or just me?
I did for the first week or so. Mainly because people knew I was getting the braces and kept asking to see them. After that I got over it and I think I smile more now than I did before the braces. I think it's normal to be self conscious at first but after a while you will forget they're there. Till...

Re: What does Doc do?
My orthodontist only did my second adjustment not the first or the third. He comes over and has a look, gives instructions and moves on. I don't have a problem with it. I actually think that I would have less faith in the therapists if they needed to be checked up on all the time. I'm in Australia a...

Re: Have you ever regretted it?
Don't let other peoples opinions of your braces bother you. Just say, "my teeth, my money, my choice". I said that to one person in particular who thought it was a massive waste of money (and a con in general) and it shut her up in a hurry. To the people who tell you that you don't need th...

Re: Very wobbly tooth!
That does sound normal to me. It can be distressing to see your teeth move around like that but it will settle. And with the braces on the tooth isn't going anywhere. If you are still worried it won't hurt to give your orthos office a call and make an appointment to have them look at it. Just to eas...

Re: Went for a consulation...
I went right on ahead and got mine after the first consult. There is only one ortho who comes to my town and they have an excellent reputation so I just went ahead with it and didn't bother with any other opinions. I knew that if I didn't just jump right in I would talk myself out of it or just keep...

Every night. I'm a goody two shoes though. I have only missed two or three nights since getting braces and those were only because I was sick at the time.

Re: Retainers are making my teeth extremely loose?
Sometimes retainers do need to be adjusted a little bit if they are causing problems for the wearer. Calling the ortho and getting them checked is the best way to go. If only for your own piece of mind.
