Re: 47 and getting rebraced

Ahhhh......positioners.

The devil's own device (can't say what I really feel). I wonder if they (it?) was the start of my tmj problems. Seriously getting the molars to come together will be a great help.

Re: 47 and getting rebraced

Jill is dead on..... My tmj was caused but orthodontic quackery when I was in high school. Too many ortho consider appearance over bite. Poor bite (and a little off is a lot of problems) can lead to all sorts of things. I ground my teeth so badly as to crack them. There were periods I couldn't drive...

Re: 47 and getting rebraced

When I was braced I would have periods of nasty TMJ. There were times I couldn't drive. I had TMJ issues before braces. After surgery (and I'm not recommending it unless you truly need it....) I rarely (like once every six months have it. Your description sounds like either the early stages of sinus...

Re: 47 and getting rebraced

If it takes six months or even a year longer do it. I know more than one adult who pushed their ortho that close enough is good enough. One was rebraced a couple of years later. The other is telling me she wants to be.

Its a short time more for a life time smile that makes you happy.

That will slow down debanding by.......

thirty minutes.

I've been braced twice. Both times I became wire free, I had a snack of caramel corn. Tremendous!

Re: opera^gal's story

I can't believe the weather you're having. We haven't had it bad although the mountains are open for skiing or will be soon. Today the high was almost 60 degrees. We had two weeks of weather related issues this summer. I hope that the weather gods smile on you soon.

Re: The never ending story of Clo's braces

Clo was braced before me. His adventures/misadventures reflect what a lot of us went through in the 70's and had to have reversed. One thing to be aware of, Clo last visited the site in January.

Re: OK--This was not the plan!

Klo: Don't feel bad about breaking the rules (except for the caramel). I think the rules are there because without them no one would really do their part to take care of their teeth during the stress that is being braced. Think about the torque they're expected to endure. With elastics constantly pu...

Re: 47 and getting rebraced

Hello terminal ortho patient: Your teeth are beautiful! The dentist who did your crowns is a true artist. I could use crowns but I'm uncertain if I could find a dentist that would do such a wonderful job. You do want an ortho who is a perfectionist. Do you really want to go through this only to look...

Kipepeo:
I love that term (terminal ortho patient).....

I think I'm the longest adult patient my ortho had. Some of her kid/teen patients with Phase 1 and 2 may take longer but normally that's to avoid surgery which I wasn't able to do.

I'll pop over and check your progress.

Re: OK--This was not the plan!

I've been watching you and a few others.....like my namesake Borg, Resistance is Futile. I do miss what you call quirkiness. When I was braced, with some people, it gave a topic of conversation besides sports. I was able to talk to strangers and have conversations. Without braces, that doesn't happe...

Re: OK--This was not the plan!

I've tried to be a support for a few folks. I'm one of the sick people who for the most part enjoyed braces. I know that sounds weird but I was able to focus on the reasons I was doing it. I was ashamed of my smile, ok terrified to show it. I also had terrible TMJ. Getting braces meant I was doing s...

Re: opera^gal's story

In West Virginia we've got blizzard warnings in some counties from Monday through Wednesday. THEY NEVER do blizzard warnings this early and for three days.....

This one could be interesting.

Re: opera^gal's story

Interesting that your ortho is trying to get you to wean off the retainer. Mine expects me to wear it every night as long as I have teeth.
