Re: SARPE Surgery
Hi metalmouth1987, nice name btw ;P To answer your question about facial changes: Yes, my nose got wider, at the base. And my cupid's bow changed as well ( I didn't know this was what it was called until now), I guess I would say it got..wider? Or longer, as you say. I also lost some definition of t...

Re: SARPE Surgery
Hello everyone! Firstly I just wanted to say how much I love reading through everyone's posts. It's so lovely to know that there's so many people out there that understand what you're going through! I thought I would post a question in this thread opposed to starting a new one. My question is this:...

Re: Why is my palate always in incredible pain following Sarpe?
Does anyone know of a dentist/orthodontist that is especially skilled in the fields of functional orthodontics/orthotropics/ using devices or methods similar to that of a homeoblock/ other non-surgical expansion devices? I think the pain in my mouth has to do with pressure on the nerves resulting fr...

Re: Why is my palate always in incredible pain following Sarpe?
I was living there at the time, it's the only reason I had the surgery over there. How often were these follow up appointments? Immediately following the surgery I only recall having one follow-up. They took a brief look at my mouth and took out some stitches. Essentially I was left on my own during...

Re: Why is my palate always in incredible pain following Sarpe?
Your next best bet, I suppose, would be a surgeon with a lot of experience fixing other people's work. If you're not going to go back to your surgeon, you should at least get a copy of your file to show to the next surgeon. I suspect they'll still want to do some imaging on you to check the status ...

Re: SARPE - how much did your teeth move?
My ortho put braces on and the gap closed within 2 hrs. It hurt sooo much. So no, the gap wasn't closing that much on it's own.

Re: Why is my palate always in incredible pain following Sarpe?
An infection or a problem with the way it healed might be possible. I don't want to go see my old surgeon. 1. He's literally across the country, and I live in Canada. 2. He never showed me much care to begin with, especially after the surgery. I read about on here how some of you guys had regular ch...

Why is my palate always in incredible pain following Sarpe?
Heyo, so for some reason my pallet is constantly subject to an enormous level of pain. I had a sarpe surgery just over five years ago, followed by two years of braces. After some thought I've come to the conclusion that this pain is not phantom nerve pain. I do have some slight numbness in the gums ...

Re: Feeling lost on braces and jaw surgery in Toronto
Surgery isn't the only option, you can always just leave it as is. Look around and you'll see that some people have issues post surgery. Some have complications and some simply don't like the changes to their appearance. Some find it a blessing. Do your research to know if a surgery is right for you...

Re: Terrible results and nerve damage
I'm not an expert by any means, but that makes no sense to me whatsoever. You had the surgery and then these things showed up. It seems there's almost 100% chance that the surgery was the cause. And he says he's 100% sure it wasn't? Weird.

Re: Terrible results and nerve damage
The hard part is proving all this in court with evidence. Keep records of everything if you think you would sue one day. You don't have to prove 100%, you just have to prove that your case is the most likely, and that may be enough to hold up in court. Thank you for your sympathy, but you need it mo...

Re: Terrible results and nerve damage
I know how you feel. Sleep is a real asset. I had surgery 5 years ago ( I can't believe it's been that long ) and I still have a burning feeling in my mouth. It comes and goes, and honestly it sounds to be much less severe than yours, but on a bad day it is absolutely debilitating. If i were to scal...

Re: SARPE Surgery
-marriedonmaui -Yes I agree, at least with the ortho/surgeons i dealt with; there was not alot of information given. I was blind throughout the entire experience, it wasn't until recently that I begun to fully understand what I did and what the risks were. I think my surgeon was just highly incompet...

Re: SARPE Surgery
^^ Daycard, this somewhat happened to me after my surgery. My midline was slightly off center before surgery, and when I started to do the turns the gap appeared in the same of center spot as well, but more off center than my midline originally was. I'm not sure why it expanded like this, and maybe ...
