THIS IS MY 100th POST! :D I wonder if the wires popping out of 2nd brackets at smaller sizes has to do with the relationship of the teeth next to them. My ortho was going to put 2 10's on top but they wouldnt both fit cuz my 2nd molars are so out of whack. So now i just have 1 10 on top which i thin...

I've heard it said by some knowlegable ppl around this board that retainers can fix minor issues w/out needing to be fully braced. I don't know this from experience though. The only way to know for sure is to have a consult with an ortho. Most of them do those for free.

I used wax constantly from day 2-15 or so. Then after about a month my teeth would shift and I'd need to use it again. Recently my 2nd molars were braced and those were waxed for a few days. My upper 2nd molars sway out a ways so those are always rubbing on my cheeks. For some reason though my right...

My first or second (i cant remember which) was really painful. I have self ligating brackets so the wire has to be popped in and out. When the asst was popping a stronger wire in on the top left (where my teeth lean in pretty far) my whole body was twisting and writhing and i was moaning so loud tha...

I didn't feel anything except awkward for the first 12 hours. My teeth didn't start getting sore till late that night/next morning. I'll be interested to see how you feel tomorrow at this time. If you need it, Ibuprophen (sp?) works good for me. Soft foods till tenderness goes away, ice cream, puddi...

I'm going in for a cleaning Oct 7th, so I'll post with what happened. I always wondered how they scrape off the tartar with the brackets and wire on. My office said I didn't need to have mine removed for it, so I'm curious! :?

My ortho didn't brace my 2nd molars until 4 months into my treatment. I'm not sure why. All 4 of my wisdom teeth were yanked 8 years ago. I've had them on now for a little over a month. I haven't seen any changes yet. Ask your ortho if they will eventually be braced or if they are already in proper ...

I just wanted to offer my encouragement to all the newbies out there! I remember my first few weeks of braces, all the spaghetti-os and jello pudding cups. I lost a few pounds the first few weeks but after about week 3 i could chew pretty well (although i still at the time couldn't bite through thin...

I would also ask who will be doing the work each time you visit - will the orthodontist do the work (what I would expect) or will non-qualified assistants do any of it? I wouldn't even post this if you'd been in your braces a while Lauren, but I just want you to know that even if you have an assist...

The night before I had my braces on I went to the grocery store, went up and down every aisle, and put everything in my cart that didn't gross me out and could be mashed with a fork or my tongue. A friend of mind had their braces removed just before i got mine on so I had a good idea of what to expe...

I've noticed that my lower lip sticks out a tiny bit. It's the fleshy part though, not the skin below it so it's ok. It's only barely noticable to me so I'm sure other ppl can't tell. I'm ALWAYS looking at my mouth and my teeth. It doesn't do it on the top though because the brackets on top naturall...

My wires seem to do this alot. Also if the wire seems to be growing out of the back then it may be from your teeth straightening. If you think about it, it takes more wire to wind its way through crooked teeth than through straighter teeth. I find that the closer I am to an adjustment the more pokey...
