It's so weird that your office is so unfriendly. I hire people based on their people skills, not just their qualifications and standards. If they are not willing to put me first since I'm PAYING them for a service, then they don't deserve my service. My ortho seemed surprised that I didn't want an e...

I have a bonded on the lowers and it seems to have lasted a long time. Eventually I might have to get a removable if it ever breaks because apparently the bondeds are not supposed to stay on your teeth for 20 years.. but who knows? Mine looked very similar to yours, in fact a little bit worse. I lik...

I wasn't charged any extra when my ortho had to make additional appliances either. He was only concerned with making sure my teeth did not move - or at least move into a position undesirable enough to have to treat me again.

I have heard you can use denture cleaner too - I might be wrong but this is what dental assistants have mentioned. I use it sometimes but not often, I have a hawley and haven't noticed any problems with soaking it.

Congratulations, you look great!! It was too bad I did not have this resource to share my journey (and get advice) when I had my braces, mine were off in 97. I think retention is always a problem, even my ortho said they have people return because of shifting, and sometimes it ISN'T even because the...

If you don't like the essix, ask your ortho if they can make you a hawley instead. I got my braces off quite awhile ago, before I thought the essix was a big deal but my ortho said a lot of people liked or preferred them. I told him that I didn't  so he agreed that as a patient I would be weari...

I kept mine but I have no idea where I put them. They were in a small envelope and I had them in a box with my impression models - my ortho gave me those too.

The initial worry for me when I had my braces was the cost. I did not have comprehensive ins that covered ANY ortho work, so I paid out of pocket entirely for it myself until the accident occured. Ins from the accident then paid for something like 5 or 6 additional months I had to continue treatment...

I had 4 first bicuspids extracted before my treatment (plus my four lovely impacted wisdom teeth). I do know that a lot of treatments are completed now without extractions but I don't know how that could have worked in my case. Not only did I have a lot of crowding but I seem to have a small mouth a...

Hi Melissa =) After reading the last post about the trouble with your office, I think it was a good idea to transfer out. I 'interviewed' three different offices before I went with the one I chose. He wasn't even the least expensive but the office was friendly, it was in an accessible location for m...

Retainers and relapses... what to do

Hi all, I reregistered because I probably haven't posted in a year - couldn't remember my information either. I've been trying to find information about what to do BESIDES getting treatment again. I have a lower fixed retainer which is fine and I have a removable hawley with springs. The retainer st...
