Re: About deep bite and curved archwires
Really? thats nice, i'm getting more confident now.. what did you see more, an intrusion of the first teeth or an extrusion of your back teeth? I'm only starting my second month with it, but i'm anxious, since i didnt think they would be necessary.. they are probrably doing the trick here, but the ...

Re: How to correct midline?
For both I've been using a 1/4" medium. During the day I have triangles on both sides with the additional anterior midline just overnight. All the same 1/4 med.

Re: How to correct midline?
I will caution you against trying an elastic configuration that your ortho has not approved. Doing so can cause movement contrary to what your ortho is trying to produce and is aware is happening. Please being your concerns to him/her and see what they prescribe for the issue. You are presumably spe...

Re: About deep bite and curved archwires
How long have the reverse curve wires been in? I was treated with them early in my treatment for a deep bite. I couldn't see any movement, but they certainly did the trick. All my front teeth were pushed into the gum line and my rear molars were all pulled out. Barely millimeters though, so really h...

Re: Archwire got short/shifted
I'd go in an have it fixed. Unless you have an hour drive to your ortho, it's better to just go and get it sorted so the wires can really do their job. For a long time I would have to go in about 2-3 days after every adjustment to get wires trimmed on the very back. Not because they didn't trim them...

Re: Thinking about getting braces or Invisalign at 33
From the description of the kind of work you need done I wouldn't go with Invisalign. You're talking needing extraction spaces closed up and I think traditional braces would do a better job. (Of course I'm not a professional) I have ceramic brackets top and bottom and I don't lisp at all. I notice s...

Re: Braced at 42
I had a lot of mashed potatoes and eggs in the beginning. Fish sticks were good for lunch once my molars started touching more. Cream soups, yogurt, smoothies, soft pasta with smooth sauces.

Re: Ortho treatment at same time as child
My then 10 year old and I had treatment that overlapped for a good 8 months. It was kind of fun, getting our appointments together and comparing what colors we chose. One month we each got ligatures in our Hogwarts house colors. He was doing a phase one treatment, so in a few years when he has all h...

Re: Were you nervous to be debanded?
I am terribly nervous even though I have watched three of my children go through debonding, the last one with ceramic brackets like mine. I'm getting closer to a removal date, and while we have one scheduled for next week I fear I won't make it as I have a back molars that is flaring out of alignmen...

Re: It hurts... SO BAD.
I was in a lot of pain for several days after getting my braces on. Round the clock ibuprofen helped a little. What helps most is time. And it's normal for one tooth to hurt more than the surrounding teeth. It usually means more force is on that one for the moment. That will also change during your ...

I hear you. I waited to schedule my braces bonding appointment until after my family and I got back from Salt Lake Comic Con. I didn't want a picture with Gillian Anderson to be me with braces.

Re: Had my 1st adjustment yesterday...ouch!!
Yes! Every time I get new ligs it feels like they are trying to ya each tooth out.
Except this last time. The assistant that put my power chains on kept a finger behind each tooth as counter pressure and it made a huge difference.

Re: How to correct midline?
While I don't know the pros and cons of each method, I can tell you that I've worn both. First time was with the first method, and just now, weeks before I'm hopefully getting them off I'm wearing the second method just at night. Chances are each method works a little differently on your teeth and y...

Re: Sudden speech and chewing problems
I had a deep bite opened up, among other things. During the course of my treatment I had an edge to edge bite for a little while, also the issue of molars connecting high and causing issues. Rest assured things often get worse before they get better. Mention the issue at your next appointment, your ...

Re: Braced at 42
Two weeks!! As long as the minor adjustments made today do their job, I'll be out of these things in two weeks! New trick is a midline elastic overnight, from upper left canine to lower right canine. That's going to be interesting. But my ortho is thrilled with how everything looks, and he reassured...
