I had 4 wisdon teeth extracted a month and a half before my braces went on and then 2 premolars extracted only 5 days before my braces went on. I purposefully waited as long as possible on the premolars. I don't mind the gaps with braces on but the though of gaps and no braces horrified me.

I use Reach Clean paste tooth paste. The coating on it makes it stiffer than regular floss so I don't have to bother with threaders, which makes flossing go way faster. Be prepared for learning to talk all over again. It took me about a week to sound "normal" again after getting my expander in. Don't worry though, you'll get used to it. Before you know it it'll be such a part of you that you'll forget what life was like without it.

I am 28 and I got about 6 MM of expansion out of my RPE. I'm going to be getting it removed in about 2 weeks. So it did the job. At first it felt really weird doing the turn cause I could feel my palata spreading but it doesn't hurt.
