I got my braces back in January, and while I was lucky enough to only have to wear the spacers for 3 days before being braced, they were still a bit uncomfortable. It was kind of a dull ache the whole time they were in, but honestly NOT nearly as bad as the experience some of the people on this site...

No, not everyone with braces has to get molar bands. I have a large filling in the side of one of my molars, so I wound up getting 4 molar bands total. I, like you, was worried because they look painful. But, to be honest, there was absolutely no pain at all getting them put on. The worst part of th...

XXNECRAXX I had my labret pierced for about 2 years when I decided to finally get braces. I was braced on January 25th of this year, and my piercing had to come out. I, like you, agonized over whether or not to get rid of it. But honestly, now that I've been in braces for about 5 months I couldn't ...

Just wanted to bump this thread up...

I'm going for my third adjustment tomorrow and trying to decide what lig colors to get. I currently have pink & orange... I'm thinking of maybe a light blue or light green. Hmm... I'll post pics tomorrow and let y'all know what I decided on!

This wouldn't really constitute as a "meal" per se, but I could really go for some corn on the cob, some Laffy Taffy and Starbursts!!! Also, some Hot Fries... not because I can't eat them now, but because the clean-up process with braces is long and tiring. LOL

Hot Fries are one of my favorite between-meal snacks. They're soft, so I'm ok there. But they get stuck EVERYWHERE. Between my teeth, in and around my brackets... just everywhere. They're awesome, but I'm going with what many before me posted... cleaning them out of my braces takes as much time (if ...

About a week ago I was eating some cheddar Munchies. The kind with pretzels, quaker squares, cheeze-its, etc. in it. I knew I shouldn't be eating it, but I was being careful to chew everything slowly. I bit into a quaker square and thought "Oh god, I think I broke something!" I ran to the ...

About 2 weeks before I got my braces on, I had a dream I had my braces in already. I was at home and I had a fight with my roommate. She and I were screaming at each other and suddenly she just reached up, grabbed ahold of the archwire between my two front teeth, and yanked! I looked over and my ent...

I actually have the opposite problem. Even when doing everyday things (working, watching tv, etc.) I always clench my jaw. I do this a lot in my sleep as well. I try to "remind" myself to loosen up my jaw, but I just can't seem to do it. I asked my orthodontist about my teeth clenching, bu...

As others have said before me, I had the cheek spreaders (lip spreaders?) put in with a little suction thingy to keep my tongue out of the way and to dry out my mouth even more. The whole process from start to finish took about an hour and fifteen minutes. And I DEFINITELY agree with insinu8 that yo...

Non-banded molars...

Hey all, I was just wondering if it's "normal" for your ortho to leave your back 4 molars un-bracketed and/or un-banded? My second to last molars on top and bottom are all banded, but my back molars have nothing. Three of my molars don't really concern me as they are pretty much in line wi...

This previous adjustment was actually my first ever. All they did was give my teeth a good once-over and change my ligs. My next adjustment is on 4/26... I'm told I'll be getting a thicker wire then!

I'm not looking forward to the pain (obviously), but I try to remember that pain=progress. :D

I've found that a simple salami & cheese sandwich on white bread is the DEVIL with braces! That makes me so, so sad since I love that combo. I ate it at work last week and let's just say I'm SO glad I bought a DentaKit and keep it at work with me! I got a lot of use out of the proxy brush and my...

My dentist actually recommended bringing my iPod to get my pre-braces fillings taken care of, so I did. Unfortunately, the sound of the drill completely drowned out anything I was trying to listen to and the ear phones kept falling out. Eventually, I just gave up. LOL I didn't bring anything to list...

I'm 25 years old and was just braced 3 1/2 weeks ago. It wasn't so much the pain that bothered me, because it wasn't unbearable, but the fact that it was hard to eat anything properly. While I did spend the first week or so wondering what in the world I'd done to myself, now I'm SO happy that I deci...
