BritGirl took the plunge!

Hi all, I've been threatening to get my "braces story" started so here I am. I did say hello in another thread and I'll briefly introduce myself again, I'm Canadian-born but come from a long line of Brits and have been living in the UK for the last 17 years. It was during Christmas when I ...

Hey Victor

Yes, I realised how important it is to do the the warm salt water rinses this past weekend
What is your projected treatment time?
I was told 14 months but I'm hoping (dreaming) it may be less! How about you?

KK is right. It's best to stay hydrated. I try to drink about 2-3 litres/day and find it makes a big difference. Vaseline is also good to use as a lip balm and it seems to last longer than the chap stick stuff.

Good luck WFS! I've got the Damon3 braces on top and bottom and my ortho is saying I should be able to avoid extractions as they can slenderise the teeth where necessary. I hope that works out for you too. Look forward to hearing how your journey goes. :D

I'm feeling a lot more optimistic after reading these replies as I thought I'd be on the soup and oatmeal diet the next 14 months. It's just been a week but I find it uncomfortable eating what I did pre-braces but hopefully I'll get used to chewing again. I'm craving pizza big time

Has anyone come across the ortho brush heads for the electric toothbrushes? I've checked Boots and Superdrug but with no success. I've been using the Tepe brushes until I can find one.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes and the great advice. This is a very friendly community. :D I've finally organised my pics and here are a few of my journey so far. Hello kaisersosa, Good to see another member here from the UK! I've only had my top brace on for a week but I know what you mean about checking in the mirror for changes. Best of luck with the rest of your treatment and I agree that this site is a real bonus for all of us making this journey. cheers...
