I haven't been here in a long time but I had an awful appointment today and it made me remember this site. I came looking for information on powerchains. I got my first powerchain (bottom only) today. My orthodontist said it's to close gaps... but I don't think I even have any gaps on the bottom. I ...

3 per day -> after breakfast, 6pm when I get home from work, and at bedtime, more if it's a weekend and I'm home (then I can brush after I eat or snack). My lunches at work are not solid food, so I generally just swish with mouthwash quickly. I don't brush at work. I cannot watch or hear anyone spit...

Re: Damon posting not an ad

BracedBelle's inference that my posting about Damon MXs was an advertisement was interesting... I meant no offense, I just mean that all of your posts sound like marketing material "spin" to me... "are the latest technology" "MORE comfortable treatment" 'Kudos to your ...

Are the buttons as big as brackets? Would they interfere with my speech? It makes me nervous to think of something being attached to the back of my teeth - eek! Thanks for the support :) I wore elastics all night and woke up this morning feeling like my head was splitting in two. It took a few hours...

I guess it differs by province or city... I'm in Ontario and I had multiple consults, all free.

Good luck, and keep us posted! :)

I'm looking forward to some changes in my face! My upper arch is now wider which has made my face slightly more round, and if my bottom jaw can successfully be brought forward then my profile will be much improved. (I'm very self-conscious about my profile right now because my lower jaw sits too far...

Re: D3 and speech

I am having the Damon3 system fitted on both arches at the same time in 16 days and I have a job where I need to talk a lot i.e. on the phone and face to face in presentations. Can anyone who has similar let me know if their speech was greatly affected, if so can you recommend anything to make this...

ditto, I always throw it in the garbage but make sure my cats can't get at it. They've been known to jump up at me and meow while I'm flossing - I'm sure they're upset that I'm playing with string and not involving them

oooooh, I haven't updated this thread lately, but I have updated my interview thread a few times over the last couple of weeks. I'm so excited that my braces/teeth/lisp were not a barrier to having successful interviews. I don't have the offer in my hands yet, but I'm supposed to have it by Monday :...

I can relate. I have 2 brackets that are slightly crooked, and they've started to cause my teeth to tip a bit, which really annoys me because they are front teeth and it's noticeable that they are crooked. I asked my ortho about it recently and he said it's common, as the brackets have to be handpla...

Call me crazy, but I wish my doctors give me 6:30am appointment. I don't like to take half a day out of my vacation days each time going to a doctor.

Being completely uneducated about braces and retainers, I never thought to ask my ortho what his plans for retention are. I will remember to ask when I see him next, as I'm curious if he does permanent retainers or not.
