Do you have metal or ceramic brackets? Sometime ceramic brackets will come off easier than metal brackets. In my case I has a ceramic bracket come off twice in the first few weeks and my ortho replaced it with a metal band that couldn't come off.

My son got his braces off about a year ago and just got his wisdom teeth out last week upon the recommedation of his dentist. I got mine out before I got braces. One of them was wedged against the second molar and the molar ended up breaking, beginning my first visit to a dentist since Reagan was pr...

I paid extra for ceramic brackets on my upper teeth and had metal on the bottom but in hindsight I would have gone with all metal because they are smaller and ended up being more comfortable than the ceramic brackets. I'd ask if they are bothering you--the worst they can say is to keep your current ...

I got my bottom braces about four months after my top braces and they were much more uncomfortable. The spacers felt worse, the throbbing was worse and the mouth sore were worse. My bottom teeth were also much more out of line than my top teeth so that may have played a part in it. The good news is ...

It's ok to cut things into really small bites--that helped me a lot eat things like pizza and steak early on into braces.

The best thing about starting at 19 is that you don't spend the next twenty years thinking about whether or not you should (like I did). Congrats on moving forward. You may run into questions in the coming months that can be answered here so use this resource.

The worst part of sanding the glue off is the burning smell but it goes away quickly. The benefits of straight teeth greatly outweigh any discomfort from removing the brackets.

The alternative sounds worse than the Herbst--I hope it does its job so you don't have to go through surgery and braces again.

Congrats--make sure you get a new retainer so you're not getting braces again in another ten or fifteen years.

I wish I had known how easy it would be to live with braces and how little they actually hurt (except spacers--they were from Hell). I wish I had known how little other people cared that I had braces so I could have skipped the upper ceramic brackets (at an additional $300 and having five come off o...

I had an upper lateral incisor that came in behind before enough room was there for it and it looked like I was missing a tooth. Also my bottom teeth were incredibly crooked as well. As a teenager I was supposed to get braces but wouldn't because of either four extractions and headgear or an expande...
