I wear 'pearl' and they seem to be far more resistant to staining than the white or the clear. I drink my coffee through a straw and I eat the occasional Thai curry meal and the staining is very limited. Whenever it does become noticable I plop on one of those Whitestrips for about 5 minutes and the...

My dentist and ortho and ortho discussed de-calcification as part of my consultations. Their take is that it tends to happen with those with poor oral hygiene, or with those who produce a particular type or volume of saliva. Apparently, some people fail to produce enough saliva while others produce ...

Just today I had three fillings replaced. I had the appointment for my replacements scheduled prior to getting my braces last week and asked both my dentist and my ortho whether I should hold off on the braces installation until afterwards, and they both said 'no'. Lots of gas for my nerves and cott...

Ohmyjaw... I don't know your age, but I'm 41 and I'm going through 'limited treatment' for only 9-10 months. I believe that that has something to do with it. My friend had braces on her bottoms only and was required to wear her retainer for just an hour a day. Of course, she doesn't even do that and...

I had my braces 'installed' just yesterday. Besides the great suggestions you've already received, I've also found the following helpful: Sucking on (not biting!) a cough drop...it keeps my mouth wet and reduces friction considerably. 'Kanka' Soft-brush gel...it's wonderful. It's a 20% benzocaine wa...

Wow, Meryaten, you are just full of information. Thanks. Ohmyjaw... well, he's a 'worst case scenario' kind of doc, and he's saying 24 hours for the first year, less the next and then while sleeping for the rest of my life. I told him 'I think I can live with that." His response, "Well, it...

Thank you

Thank you for your responses. I have determined at this point, with just the two consultations, that I prefer working with the Doc who provided the second consult. Bless his heart, I'm a nut for research, and every time I've had a question, he and his staff have been there to answer it. I am still v...

Very Different Consultations????

I'll try to keep it short...so please forgive any seeming abruptness! I am a 41 female with all four wisdom teeth and a missing lower front tooth (hypodontia). Little crowding below, medium crowding on top. Gums and teeth in good condition. 2mm overbite in front. No crossbite. No facial deformities....
