Thanks, that's a good answer.

Are the molars and premolars supposed to be the same height or are the molars supposed to be lower into the gums than the premolars?

should some teeth protrude more than others?

Anyone know if all the teeth should be exactly the same level or if some should protrude more or less than others? For instance, should the two top front teeth protrude more than the laterals and should the canines stick out more than the teeth next to them, and should the molars and bicusipds all b...

Hi ArchAngle and Gennel,

Thanks for understanding what I was asking. Those replies make sense.

I think this is one of those things I'm not going to mention to the ortho, I have enough questions on other stuff... don't want to overdo the questions...

Hi Maverick, thanks for replying. As a tooth is mvoed through bone it makes sense that bone is removed from the spot where the tooth is about to move inot, and bone is formed behind where the tooth was. But in the case of my question this is not the scenario. The tooth that is moving is moving into ...

But wouldn't there be no bone on one side of the root of the moved tooth? Just a hole in the bone there?

After extraction why don't other teeth move into bone hole?

Hi, I had an extraction of a lower front incisor and now the ortho is immediately moving another tooth over toward the hole. It is moving really fast and I am thinking it seems the good tooth's root would soon be hitting the bone hole where the old tooth was just pulled out. Can anyone explain why t...

When I had an appointment last month, the assistant needed to place elastics to improve my overjet. He said something like a certain amount of force is needed to have an effect. If the elastic doesn't reach that level, then nothing will happen. He installed my elastics, and was convinced they would...

Clo, thanks for the reply. OK, I see that you were assuming I had some small gaps along the lower arch, and that perhaps the lower molars were not in Class III, just the front 4/6 teeth were a little too far forward and they could be moved back closing the other little gaps here and there without ca...

You could have wide upper fronts and narrower lower fronts. That would give you an overjet even in Class I molar relationship.

Thanks everyone for trying to help me here. In the lower arch, the elastics only need to move the 4 (6) front teeth. That will happen a lot sooner. Clo, this is the part of your answer I don't follow at all. Why do you say only the front teeth of the lower jaw need to be moved to fix a Class III iss...

I have read that the sum total of the size of the roots of the lower teeth is less than that of the uppers, meaning (I think) that it would require a greater force to move the entire upper arch, as opposted to the entire lower arch. Since with Class II or Class III elastics the arches are pulling o...

KK, you mean all your lowers including the molars moved back but the top teeth didn't really move forward? Because Clo said it only affects the lower fronts.

I'm still confused - don't the lower molars have roots just as strong as the upper molars?

thanks
