Retainer causing dry mouth...

Since i've been given my retainer and i've been wearing it nightly i've been waking up with a real dry mouth and sore throat? I have one of those retainers that looks like a plastic gum shield but its clear? Does anybody know if this is the retainer? And if it is are there any solutions to stop the ...

I do understand what you are saying, but as i said earlier, i've adressed this issue with the ortho for a long time now and he keeps giving the same responses. If i kept it up it would start getting silly and we would both be going around in circles. But i do get what people will be saying, because ...

Given up

Well, i went for my retainer today for my lowers and the ortho said that i will get my tops off on my next appointment. As some of you might know i've been trying to articulate the issues i have with my top brace with my ortho for quite a while now and it's been like bashing my head against a wall. ...

Thanks for the responses guys. The whole treatment has looked shady for a while and i have to same ive kind of given up on braces. I don't think i will ever get the result i wanted and there is only so much fighting against your orthos decision that you can do before you end up both knocking your he...

Tension filled appointment....

So, as many of you may know, today i was booked in to have my lowers removed. Upon arrival the receptionist gave me a brace removal consent form, and as i am adamant on keeping my top brace on (against what my ortho wants to do), i kindly told her i will not sign anything until both arches are off. ...

Thanks for the responses Breal87 and Meryaten. I'ts good to see that others think there has been some improvement since the elastics. Meryate- That's interesting, i thought it was neccessary for the bracket to be repositioned if a large amount of movement was desired. I hope he tries to bend the wir...

Many Thanks for all your responses. I too feel that certain brackets should be repositioned due to movement, especially the one on my left canine and left inscisor. Thanks for the information Meryaten, do you think i should ask the ortho if IPR would help or would that come across like i am telling ...

Hello, Do all orthos practise IPR...i'm just asking because my teeth on the upper arch are still not alligned but the ortho says it's time to have them off because there is no room for movement. I'm just a bit concerned as to why he did not offer to do this as an option, instead of just saying there...

Remember that the two arches need to be matched. So you can't just expand the upper if it is already well matched to the lower, or you mess up the bite. Of course, I'm no dental pro, but it really looked like very little extra space is needed, so I truly do wonder if IPR is not the very best way to...

Thanks cosmicgirl, im hoping he resorts to using some sort of appliance to make the space needed. Anyone, from looking at my pictures, could just let me know what i should draw my ortho's attention to when i write the letter later today. I've decided to write a letter because im living at Uni so i c...

Thanks very much for the response!!! I am surprised to hear that your ligs turned color and made your teeth appear to be a 'nasty yellow color'. I would think NO dentist would use these products if that happened to any of their patients ya know? My dentists office maintains that they have had NO is...

Hi - sorry you are not pleased with your results, I think your teeth look awesome! I do have another question for you - I don't have braces yet but met with the ortho last night who i plan to use. He uses Invu brackets and I think i read on another thread that those are what you have. I haven't bee...
