Ah, no wait... I voted "No", but in fact I have had several dreams about my teeth, before and after braces. I often dream my bottom jaw is set forward and my bottom teeth are pushing, locked against my front top teeth and I can't get them free. I wake up and have to check everything is sti...

I've been pretty good using the plastic retainers every other night since last September. At first they were quite awkward to fit, and sometimes they are difficult to remove in the mornings, but I'm more or less used to them now. Does anyone else have the wires fixed to the backs of their front teet...

Wow....I can't believe those are the same teeth either!!!! You must be so excited to smile naked! Thank you :) Yes, I'm very happy with the result; and after only a year and a few months. I was expected a couple of years at least, but my teeth moved easily. I'm so glad I didn't go with the first or...

Thanks for the kind replies :) Best of luck with yours, too, KK. My orthodontist fixed two thin wires to the backs of the six top front and four bottom front teeth to keep them in position. I'm also getting a retainer as an "insurance policy". It's worked out very well over the past year o...

21st September, 2007 - Braces off :)

It's been more than a year since I posted (I said I was a lousy diary-keeper), but this week I had my braces off :D Here is the result. On the left, June 2006 (orthodontist's photo); and on the right, September 2007 (my own photo from this afternoon): http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/3595/myteethj...

It took me quite a few weeks to get used to flossing with braces - it was extremely awkward to start with. Now I can easily floss without the threading tool; the only difficulty being the days when there's movement of the teeth and some areas are too sore. I usually use Oral-B mint-waxed floss. I ne...

Into my sixth month in braces (again). The ligs on my brackets only stain very slightly, and usually by the time the color is beginning to change it's my next appointment and they are replaced with new ones :)

Thanks :) Maybe I'm just being overly paranoid (though I do prefer white wines to reds :P ).

Ah yes, KK, I typed the wrong thing; I meant the ligatures :P I suppose fortunately I don't make very many curries (my gf doesn't like them much), but there are probably other foods that will cause staining. What about things like coffee? I enjoyed a couple of Wild Turkey and Cokes last night. I've ...

They are awkward, for at least a couple of weeks (it took me about a week to remember what it was like again; the last time was when I was 12 years old). Your mouth and lips will adjust to the temporary extensions to your teeth; it just takes a bit of time. As the teeth move, the brackets and things...

I cooked a meal for myself and my gf this evening of grilled fillet steak, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli and carrots and pumpkin with gravy. Most of that is very soft and easy to eat with braces. With the steak, I cut it into smaller pieces (and fillet steak from the grill is very soft and tende...

Photo, 14 July 2006

I suppose it'd be interesting to keep a photo log of how things are progressing, so after a quick photo session with myself :) here's a photo, one month after having braces again:

They're already visibly on the move :D
