I have an open coil on my front also, just on the left side to make room. It did bother me at first but it doesn't so much anymore. However, I did have a kanker sore in that spot that took two weeks to heal because of that coil. What I found MOST helpful was the lip protector thingie that you can bu...

Just like on metal brackets, sometimes they criss cross the ligatures. That's the only thing I can think of at the moment. Anyone else have ideas?

You should call them and let them know what's going on so they can get you a bite plate or something. You can actually bite off the bracket (although it's unlikely since it hurts so much) but biting off a bracket - according to my ortho can set back the treatment. They should get you in fairly quick...

I got spacers at first too and when one of them popped out, I just put it back in myself.

I have the 7500. It's great. The vibration really feels good on my gums and teeth and it gets them really clean. I love this brush. I just got it about a week ago too. My husband says that it will "take some getting used to" but I absolutely love it. :-**

I've got ceramics on top too and my treatment time is only a year to a year and a half. I think that since the ceramics tend to be more fragile it could make the treatment time longer...but I like my ceramics. Good luck with yours :D

I've met a couple of other adults with braces and have gotten positive feedback. I think having braces has in fact improved my self esteem and I smile much more than I did before.

I had about three or four canker sores in my mouth the first two weeks of having my braces on. I just brushed a lot and did a lot of the warm water with salt. Oh and Campho Phenique is a great sore product. It says external use only but a little dab (as bitter as the taste is) dries it up quickly an...

It's totally normal. I've just had mine for about a month and yeah, my lips and inside my cheeks did hurt a lot at first. It's really best to try to deal as much as possible with the discomfort because once the inside of your mouth gets used to it, it won't hurt anymore but the more wax you use, it ...

I just got mine a few days ago and I find it more of a nuisance to use than a floss threader. I MUCH prefer threader floss. The flossfish is just too thick to really do anything helpful for me.

I have bands on my first and second molars on top and it was uncomfortable but my ortho had a bite stick and had me bite down to put them on. MUCH MUCH better than him trying to fit them himself. It may be a good idea to ask about the bite stick.

Surprisingly enough, my co-workers have been the most supportive. It was my parents and my siblings who teased me. Hopefully they get bored with it or finally realize that I'm not returning their calls at the moment.

My ortho cleaned off the excess glue with the pencil marks with that little drill thingy (pardon my technical term) and told me to just brush really well to get the rest of the pencil marks off. He uses the pencil marks to make absolutely positive that it's centered. I LOVE my ortho. He's a great on...
