Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

You either laugh or you cry... (spoiler alert, my default position is crying!) The tooth that 'replaced' my impacted canine, now looks like it's going to need a root canal at some point, from all the movement it had to do to get in position. Brilliant. I mean, have I not been through enough?! ...

Re: "clicking" feeling/sound

I know this is a really old thread, but this is happening to me too. My ortho and general dentist have checked twice now and tell me it's just the ligaments and not to worry, but it happens so very often and is really noticeable, so 'not worrying' is not coming easily! :( I had my braces off in Dece...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

I didn't have mine fully re-exposed as such, but my ortho and assistant did (randomly one day, with no prior warning - the idea just came to them as I sat in the chair and away they went, chopping away at me!!) remove some more gum after a year or so to try and give it more space and ease of movemen...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

After almost two years of having a large gap where my two baby teeth were (the ones that were masking the impacted canine problem in the first place) last week my Ortho managed to ask - 'Do you mind having the gap? We can camouflage it if you like?' Couldn't you have asked me that two years ...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

Oh no, Shelley! I totally feel your pain, especially the work thing, having to reorganise your life around all these appointments for it to then not even work was definitely one of the most irritating parts of being a failure. I hope the implant process goes smoothly for you at least!

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

God, you are braver people than me! I'm far too squeamish for the likes of that. I did try to push it along with my fingers when I had the button attached to it and was getting stressed by the lack of movement, but I definitely wasn't strong enough to have any impact. So, I'm an official failure. Ca...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

It did seem to move, it got all the way to the end of the links on my chain and we were expecting it to break gum, but then it just stopped in December/January. Tried pulling it a few different ways since to see if that helped, but no change. They showed me pictures of previous cases they’ve done wh...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

Well, unless there is a minor miracle in the next couple of weeks, we'll be making the final call at my next appointment on July 11th to extract the canine sometime thereafter, and use the next tooth along in its place. Oh well, you can't win them all. (It's taken me many months to come around to th...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

Well, it's nearly time for my next appointment and at this stage I'm trying to bring myself around to TylerWithBraces and his ortho's way of thinking, because this toothy beast hasn't moved at all this month. I suppose it's a fair way of looking at it, the tooth hasn't been here all this time and I'...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

I survived a bit longer, the ortho is giving me another couple of months pulling time. PHEW. He seems to think it's moved a little tiny bit. I'm not sure I agree from looking at the pictures, BUT I'm certainly not going to argue with trying for a bit longer!

Re: Day 1 and I already want to rip them off! Help!

The first two weeks when I got my uppers were a living hell, they hurt more than anything I've ever had since, including exposure surgery on my impacted canine. The lowers didn't hurt even a tiny bit, which was bizarre, but welcome! Now, I eat absolutely anything (apart from really hard or sticky th...

Re: what's the cost of your braces?

Location - UK, Yorkshire Type of braces - Ceramic, upper and lower. Price - Approx £4500 (I paid in full at the start, so time has lessened the memory of the exact - painful - figure slightly!) Duration - Estimated 24 months, but will be longer thanks to an impacted canine that seems to not want to ...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB

Hi folks :) Long time lurker, panicking first time poster! Sounds like my left canine is doing the same as yours UltraViolet :( Exposed and activated last July, everything seemed to be going fine, but now it's got to a certain point near the gum and hasn't moved since January. I'm just baffled, how ...
