Forsus - can I sleep on my side? Super important!

Hi everyone. I posted a couple of years ago about how I never finished my treatment from when I was a teenager. Long story short, I decided to finish it and I've now been in braces for about a month. I'm due to get a Forsus appliance in a few months. I would love it if someone could tell me whether ...

Re: Beware "Holistic" Dentists
I do think that oil pulling is a neat idea, although I have never tried it.
I know someone who believed in oil pulling and did it for a few years, thinking it could replace dentist visits. Not sure whether he wanted to save money, avoid "chemicals" at t...

Re: Ramblings On Avoiding Exaggeration, Quackery and Malpractice

I laughed when I read the vitamin thing. As strange as it may sound, it really happens. I once saw an otolaryngologist for some impacted ear wax. He was professional and nice enough, but on the way out, gave me several samples of some kind of special branded ear vitamin. He said "these will rea...

Re: Why do they tell you not to eat nuts?

Hmm... I'm considering braces but I eat nuts every single day. What if it's not a hard nut like an almond, but softer like a cashew? Would that be okay?

Re: Can Invisalign fix an overjet?

It's big enough that I can get my index finger in between my bottom teeth and my top teeth when my mouth is closed. Only on the front two teeth. Well, I will definitely look into that appliance. Thanks. I apologize for cluttering up the board with questions. While I could look at doctor's websites, ...

Can Invisalign fix an overjet?

I ask this question here because I'm skeptical of believing what any one doctor tells me. I've already been told by an oral surgeon that I need surgery, and by an orthodontist that I don't. I had braces in high school and it fixed my bite (can't remember what type I had, but it was fixed). However, ...

Re: Wearing a nance(?) and not able to enjoy food

I had one of those when I was in high school. It felt bizarre but I almost got used to it. Despite my diligence in brushing my teeth, it was incredibly stinky when the took it off some time later. If I had known, I would have used some kind of mouthwash or something to get under the plastic and keep...

Re: I failed at braces. Should I try again?

I forgot to add, is there any way I can find out which doctors use modern treatment methods, so I don't waste my time getting a consultation by someone who wants to put me in headgear? If I called all the offices in the phone book, just as an example, is there some kind of system of type of practice...

Re: I failed at braces. Should I try again?
If it doesn't cost you too much, I'd recommend getting a few more opinions from board certified orthodontists. That way, you can hopefully identify a pattern - for example, if 3 out of 4 recommend a certain type of treatment (e.g. surgery) then you can be relatively c...

I failed at braces. Should I try again?

I had braces for about four years during high school. While many problems with my bite were fixed, I still have a large overjet. I can put the tip of my index finger in between my bottom and front teeth when my mouth is closed. There are several reasons for this. The orthodontist told me to have my ...
