Re: How has having braces changed your life

Braces have really boosted my self-confidence by an infathomable amount. Before braces, I had terrible teeth that looked extremely ugly. I wasn't able to get braces up until a few months ago. With extractions, I pulled the trigger, and I am so glad that I did. It's truely amazing going from hiding y...

Re: What is this rubber band chain?

Ahh the infamous power chain

The first few days will be quite tight with the new pressure, but after about a week the pain should subside. Personally, I don't feel soreness the first week, but the second week is horrid!

Re: Power Chains Help!!

For me I had wireties that caused my teeth to move apart, but become straight. During my last appointment my orthodontist fitted me with a power chain to close up the gaps formed by the wire tires. For your case, I suspect that your orthodontist is using a power chain to keep all the teeth together ...

Re: Extractions?

It could be so that the teeth have loosened up, so that they are easier to extract. My extraction dentist told me that while I was on the chair. I had my four premolars extracted before being braced and had a nance installed to anchor them.

Re: Do you spend more time looking at teeth?

Ever since I got mine on I noticed people's smiles a lot more! I don't mind the condition, because that is none of my business, but I can definitely tell if somebody has had braces.

Wow you've had great results! I'm tempted to take pictures of my progress as well but I just can't find the tiny bit of spare time for it. Hopefully your future progress is as fast as you're current progress!

Re: Please tell me extractions aren't that bad

I had 4 premolars extracted, two upper, two lower. Let me tell you, it was a BREEZE. I got in and numbed up well, after that they proceeded to let the anesthetic work it's magic. The pulling of teeth itself wasn't painful at all, as they stopped routinely to make sure I was as comfortable as possibl...

Re: Build up on molars ... extremely painful

I got my buildups on my back molars a few weeks ago to prevent my molar brackets from being bitten off. To this day they still irritate the molars just a bit, hopefully your pain has gotten better!

Suprisingly I haven't had any pain in the last couple of weeks either; but, my smile has improved dramatically! I wonder how long this serenity will last  You of course realize that you have just jinxed yourself. Oh my goodness you are so right. I woke up this morning and UGH it was not ...

Re: The frustration of waiting....

Do you know if your ortho will place your brackets on before or after the extractions? My installed a nance in, and then braced me after the extractions were all said and done. Anyways, the extractions are relatively painless. They numb you up very well, although there will be a lot of clunking and ...

Re: Wearing a nance(?) and not able to enjoy food

I have a nance holding my last molars back. The first few weeks were the most troublesome, I had no idea how to deal with this bubble of acryllic on the roof of my mouth, it felt massive! Eventually I just started trying to eat normally, and fast forward three months I barely even notice it! The onl...

Re: Bite feels unnatural?

I think it is completely normal! Earlier this month I had my second adjustment, which I had molar build ups to prevent me from biting off my molar brackets. Ever since then my bite feels like it changes every single night! I have no clue how people in elastics deal with it, but I'm set to find out i...

Re: How do you keep your teeth looking white?

I use the Crest 3D Whiting line of products and they seem to have maintained the shade of my teeth. Sometimes I switch over to Colgate whiting toothpaste and that also seems to do just as well as Crest.
