Yay!

Thanks to everyone! I haven't been on the board in awhile, but this is a great resource. I'm getting my braces off tomorrow!

Good luck with your recovery! I had four teeth removed and was very scared. It was absolutely the right decision though. The healing is a pain, but just try to be careful and patient with eating and drinking. Remember, no straws!

I was really afraid of that, too, when I started. I haven't had any trouble with my teeth, though. Decay can occur more easily with braces, but since you are probably brushing way more than normal, you should be fine. For my own peace of mind, I decided that I would go to the dentist for a check-up/...

WiredforSound---that is often the only way I know my teeth are moving because my bite changes all the time. It's useful, but a little weird!

I constantly think that I have a cavity because of the pain I get randomly here or there. It seems that it is never anything more than moving teeth. However, I can feel as much pain 4 weeks after an adjustment as I do the first week. In any event, I always think you should play it safe. You can't be...

It doesn't seem like that's impossible, but it may be a balance thing--maybe he thinks the balance of your teeth will be upset with that particular molar gone. But you should definitely get another opinion if you don't want to go that way. It seems that with teeth, or all medical procedures, there i...

MsTiaLia's suggestion is a good one--I meant to take a photo of my teeth every month to document the changes but I totally stopped doing that a long time ago. I saw a huge change in my first month, but almost no one says that. I had four teeth removed so my teeth were able to move a lot in that firs...

When I selected my orthodontist, he ran through my treatment program with me at our second meeting. He showed me a computer program that had a 3D diagram of my mouth and teeth and he explained how my teeth would move, etc. There was a screen that involved a lot of geometry, and from the conversation...

I'm not familiar with your situation so maybe these things have already been said. I think the idea of going to the dental teaching hospital is a good idea. At least you could talk to people there--they might be able to advise you further. Have you checked into your legal options? Do you have any so...

I know--I love Indian food. The o-rings are very yellow but it was still worth it :) Granola: I haven't had new x-rays taken. My year anniversary is in January and I was thinking he might do them then. My ortho has promised that they will move though. I'll keep you guys posted. My bottom teeth were ...

I have clear uppers, metal lowers. I have four teeth removed and my treatment is estimated at 24-30 months. I paid approximately $4000 for everything.

Hi all

It's been a busy semester for me--sorry I haven't been around. I just wanted to say hello and happy (early) holiday season to all those with holidays coming up. The teeth are doing well. I might get a digital camera for christmas--if I do, I'll put up some pictures. Not much has changed actually. Fo...

newmetal: I have the same exact situation. I had four teeth removed and once all of my teeth are straight, we will start closing the gaps. But they have all closed a little from just the archwire--one has closed much more than the others. (Unfortunately, the ortho just told me the gaps hadn't closed...

As BeeBee said, I also feel a lot more confident with the braces on than I thought I would. It's funny because I was really expecting to go another 24-30 months self-conscious, expecting the big change to occur after I got them off. But, honestly, that change happened when they were put on. Someone ...
