Need some advice?

Hi everyone, I’m 19 and in need some advice on what could be possibly causing my facial asymmetry. As I’ve examined it more closely, it looks like it’s more of a general facial asymmetry - my right side of my forehead seems to be pushing my left side, as does my upper right jaw and zygomatic bone an...

Good value oral and maxillofacial surgeons in Europe?

Hi all, I am looking into getting a consultation with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon (and maybe a craniofacial surgeon) on my options regarding my facial asymmetry, which I believe is down to my hemimandibular hyperplasia. My right side of my face has grown much more than my left side and it has ...

Re: asymmetrical jawline?

It's not something surgeons typically address unless it's a glaring thing. I for example believe I probably have condylar hyperplasia. It personally bugs me quite a bit. Ofc some asymmetry is normal and desired because nobody is perfect but I believe it also for me has caused noticeable asymmetry an...

Condylar hyperplasia? One side of my face bigger than other

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone here has condylar hyperplasia and knows about treatment in the UK. I'm 18 now and its apparent that one side of my face is bigger than the other. One side of my face has a nice V jawline whereas the other is round, this is becoming more and more apparent especially...

Re: I believe I have condylar hyperplasia

Aha, ok thanks!

So I went to my dentist and asked her about the asymmetry and asked if there was anything I could do about it? She said no. I'm guessing if I were to get it done, it'd be 'cosmetic surgery'. I don't have any immediate need to get it anyway.

Who knows? Maybe in the future :)

Re: I believe I have condylar hyperplasia

Hi, thanks for the reply! The smile isn't horribly crooked, most people don't notice unless I point it out to them. I personally see it quite easily but it's easy for anyone to point out their own insecurities, right? My teeth used to be HORRIBLE. I had a terrible cross bite but the braces sorted th...

Re: I believe I have condylar hyperplasia

Most websites say it occurs during puberty (which is what I've noticed in my experience). Looking at my younger pictures, I can't see a thing. Maybe there's a few close up pictures that'd show it but for the most part, it wouldn't show. Do you mind me asking how old you are and what your experience ...

Re: I believe I have condylar hyperplasia
Huh, we'll I've never heard the term Condylar hyperplasia but 100% that's what I have. Weird that my orthodontist or surgeon hasn't told me that's what it is. The more you know!
I did a lot of research into it! (probably just me being a self conscious teen right?...

Re: I believe I have condylar hyperplasia
Most peoples faces are asymmetric if you look long enough you'll see it especially in your own face. You'll only get treated on the NHS if there's a strong medical need, that does include possible future health problems. As your jaw is still growing they may be reluctant t...

I believe I have condylar hyperplasia

Hi everyone, I'm 17 and I think I have condylar hyperplasia. When I was 13, I got braces and kept them for about 2 years. It fixed my bite and my teeth are straight. However, I also noticed that I had a slight jaw asymmetry and cant. My smile tilted and I noticed the right side of my face was slight...
