Re: UK NHS double jaw surgery questions
You should have been sent an inpatient surgical appointment letter usually scheduled for very early in the morning on your surgery date. If you haven't received this yet speak with your orthodontist/surgeon/hospital secretary. FYI you'll need to book yourself off work for roughly 4-6 weeks as you'll...

Re: Drinking Alcohol with braces on
I have tried to cut back on the vodka lemonades as I was told not to drink to much soft drink (I am not sure that makes a difference while drinking wine full of sugar anyway.. lol) It's a general misconception that fizzy drinks are only bad for you just because they contain sugar. They're bad for y...

Re: Before & After
Thank-you all so much for the kind comments, it's really great to hear so much positivity and that all of you think this treatment was worthwhile in the end. Thankfully my journey has now come to an end, and I'm now officially brace free!! https://s32.postimg.org/b1l8j9hut/Me345.jpg I couldn't be ha...

Re: Before & After
Thanks everyone! really appreciate the kind words. My braces come off in 5 days and counting! Will try and post up a pic once they're finally off. The bottom third of your face looks noticeably wider in the bottom picture, perhaps it's partly due to the camera angle. Was it a one piece Lefort, and d...

Best of luck! You'll be roughly the age I am now when your braces come off, I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

Before & After
Hi guys, I thought I'd post this here as the surgery subform get very little in the way of traffic. I've been wearing braces for over 9 years now (due to be removed on the 14th of June, can't wait!!), and 5 months ago I had Lefort 1 and BSSO surgery to correct an underbite of 11mm. Now that my swell...

Re: Struggling with post-op mood
I think a lot of good advice has already been given so I won't add too much. When I went through double jaw surgery 4 months ago I made a wall calendar with just regular a4 paper and crossed off the days every night before I went to bed, it felt really good to do this and gives you the real feeling ...

Re: Day 50 post op double jaw surgery Does jumping slow down healing?
I'm not a doctor but so long as you didn't knock your jaw, or clench too hard in such a way as to damage your jaw, then most likely you didn't do any harm. In fact exercising may have actually increased the rate of healing, as exercising increases blood flow, and this alone can speed up the healing ...

Re: Permanent Numbness
Prior to this surgery, I also would have liked to have seen comprehensive numbness statistics. As it is, I think this surgery exists in a Wild West scenario. I'm 22 months post op and can't feel the left-side of my face. I'm suicidal. My surgical outcome is not being collected or recorded by anyone...

Re: What reasons has your insurance given for denials?
Whenever I see threads like this one concerning American health insurance cover I usually just pass it over without commenting, as I live in the UK where we have a national health service where everyone contributes through their taxes and the majority of health care is covered automatically without ...
