Eek! How annoying for you, I'm sure you don't need this added stress right now. I didn't have any of this (I'm in the UK and I paid for mine) but I hope it's all resolved nice and quickly, must be a huge pain.

You need to see your dentist and ask for a referral to an orthodontist. They may well automatically refer you to an NHS one but if not you will need to ask them how to go about gaining an NHS referral.

I had a sliding genioplasty along with a lower jaw advancement. My surgeon did warn me, like meryaten mentioned, that the risk of permanent numbness would be slightly greater than if I had the jaw surgery alone. In my case, i think that if I had done the surgery without the chin, I wouldnt have bee...

Absolutely normal, I was like this for up to probably 8 weeks or so post-surgery. I do sympathise, I remember how frustrating it was.

Poor you, over the counter painkillers should help though. That's all I was given after my surgery I had paracetamol, codeine and ibuprofen. I have a feeling that codeine might only be available on prescription in the US but the others should help until you can get your prescription. Nose bleeding i...

What a lovely result, you must be so pleased. It's only going to improve too as the swelling continues to go down.

You're looking great! I'm most jealous of your lovely shaped mouth. Even surgery couldn't sort out my pathetically thin little lips (well I suppose there ARE ways to fix that but the husband says NO! ).

Three weeks is still very early days. I was still very noticably swollen at 7-8 weeks and when I look back at photos I realise I was quite swollen for quite some time after, I just didn't realise at the time. As for the nerve damage, I still (after nearly 2 years!!!!) have some in my lower lip on th...

What part of the country are you in? Also, are you looking for private or NHS treatment. My surgery was carried out by Mr Lello, who was excellent, but I believe he has now retired from NHS practice. Not much good to you if you are not near Edinburgh anyway.

Hi there, I haven't posted for ages so I'm amazed I remembered my log-in details! Anyway, I was eligible for NHS treatment despite being over 18 so do push for more information. As it happened I wasn't prepared to wait 3 years for NHS treatment so I had mine done privately. I paid #2500 (sorry my po...

It's not the same thing but I dripped an awful lot of blood after my upper jaw surgery so I'm sure that's totally normal. It took something like 12 days before I stopped leaking sinus fluid, every time I bent over - nice! Glad to hear you're doing well anyway. Try to enjoy the weather, you definitel...

Poor you, that looks tough going.

What is your ortho trying to achieve? (Sorry, I don't know much about headgear).

I really hope you manage to work out some sort of sleeping system soon, I really do feel for you.

Thanks :D I had them for 14 months prior to surgery. Technically they were "ready" at month 11 but it took another three months before getting the surgery as they had to stabilise, for me to see the surgeon and then actually get booked in at the hospital. Laurence - I am getting my treatme...

Incredible news!

I'm so daft. I'm been so busy fretting about the nasty black triangles between my lower teeth that I forgot to post my lovely news  My ortho says... ...that my teeth and bite are perfect and that she is hoping to take my braces off at the appointment after next  I'm less than five weeks...
