Essix and drooling

Does anyone else drool because of Essix retainers? I wear them only at night and every time I go to bed I start drooling just before falling asleep and it always wakes me up. It's been ~90 days since I was debraced and it's been like this since the beginning. Does it stop at some point? I am already...

Re: Getting braces soon

I had my braces taken off today. I was supposed to wear them between 12-15 months, but it ended up being just 1 week shy of 11 months. Not complaining  I hate you so much right now  Yes we would love some pictures. Well, they aren't as good as I thought they would be. Primarily beca...

Re: Getting braces soon

Here's an update, it's been a bit more than 6 months since I became a metal mouth.

The problem I had with the canine is gone. If my teeth looked like this before, I would never ever bothered with braces. There are still things to fix, but all the big problems are already resolved.

Re: Elastics

I think you'll be just fine and doubt your treatment will take 1 month longer because you didn't wear them for 4 days. If you're going to be in elastics for like a year more (like a lot folks do), I seriously doubt 4 days will make any difference. Still, why don't you call your Ortho and ask him/her...

Re: Getting braces soon

Thank you emiii! Here's the update. It will be 3 months since I had my braces put in about a week. The reason why I had my braces put in the first place is because I never lost my baby canine in the upper jaw, so the regular canine had to grow above it. The movement of that one tooth is amazing, as ...

Re: What type of floss do you use?

To be honest, I had to google floss picks to see what they are. Never saw one in my life :D I use the manual one (oral b) and it's a just a regular floss without stiff ends (which I did buy initially, but it's WAY too thick for the space between my teeth). Takes me 10-15 minutes for a full flossing ...

Re: Flossing Trouble - Day 3 of braces

I had some trouble flossing in the beginning too, but trust me when I tell you it gets easier VERY quickly. I am just 3 weeks in and it takes like 4-5 minutes to floss everything, while it used to take me like 15 minutes in the beginning. Just try to floss what you can and use the waterpik regularly...

Re: Newbie Question 2 - my braces feel enormous
thank you - yes brain is going crazy right now - as am I!
I guess it's like that with anything new - it's never how you imagined it to be or feel.
It's weird, but for me it was exactly like I thought it would be, but I guess ceramic ones do feel a bit bulkier.

Re: Just popped a bracket :(

It must be an unlucky day as the same thing happened to me yesterday. And yes, my ortho is closed for the weekend too... My wire popped out from last two molars while flossing and the second to the last bracket fell off. Luckily, I was able to remove that bracket and save it and also managed to put ...

Re: Favourite Chewing gum?
I tried to chew gum for the first time a couple of days ago and it was horrible. It felt like it was sticking to everything. I read that once you are farther along in treatment, the wires get thicker and maybe that will be a better time to try chewing.
I was go...

Re: Getting braces soon

Just came back. It went fine, it isn't such big of a deal (yet) :) It doesn't feel as bulky as I thought it would. My teeth actually itch a bit now, but other than that it's fine. My dentist missed one cavity on my 7th teeth, which kinda sucks so I'll have to deal with that down the road. Ortho said...
