Re: How realistic should I be about my final results?

Hi MetalKitty, I'm dealing with the exact same issues right now. I'm still waiting for a couple of very stubborn spaces to close and then my ortho told me mine would be ready to come off also. My midline is good now thanks to wearing a midline elastic for the past several months, but I have a small ...

Re: Frustrated with small gap

I can understand your frustration! I had a gap in the same place you are talking about and also another gap between the next 2 teeth. They were both 1mm wide. I have been waiting for 6 months for these to close with no movement whatsoever. I go in very 2 weeks and they replace my energy chains. Well...

Re: First adjustment and no wires changed

Im sorry I couldn't respond earlier! I had to take my computer in to get a bad virus removed. Anyway, its been 2 weeks since my adjustment. Initially, my bottom teeth were pretty sore just from getting the ligs changed. I do feel like my bottom teeth are continuing to improve but not my top teeth. M...

Re: Nearing the end!

May I ask how they raise the gum line by repositioning the brackets? My daughter's gum line comes down really low on her lateral inscisors and her ortho is suggesting lasering the gum tissue. Repositioning brackets sure sounds less painful!

First adjustment and no wires changed

I was so looking forward to having my wires changed today. I'm 49 and even though my orthodontist has given me an estimated treatment time of 20 months, I am hoping it won't be that long. I originally had a .014 wire put in on top and a .012 wire on bottom. My bottom teeth were quite a bit more crow...

Hi kelse! I'm getting my braces on Tuesday also! 8 am appointment. I'm really nervous but also excited. I'm also a little concerned that I won't be able to eat any of the yummy meals we are going to over the holidays! Good luck to you and thanks everyone about the advice on the lip balm!

Re: Braces at 54

I don't know the answers to your questions, but I'm going to be right there with you in 5 more days! Braces at 49. I' m really worried that once they're on I'm going to secnd guess my decision. I just wish Tuesday would hurry up and get here so I could quit worrying about it. Are you happy with your...

Re: This is an instrument of torture

I wore my retainer mostly every night from the age of 16 to age 35 when I accidentally broke it. I figured almost 20 years was good enough to keep my teeth in place, right? Wrong! The shift in my teeth was very gradual initially. One day, I realized that they were starting to look a little more croo...

Re: Can braces widen your smile if you're an adult?

Wow fosterp! You transformation is amazing. I'm not sure what the 2 teeth on either side of your front teeth are called, but how did he make the one on the left side appear so much larger? Did he pull it down to make it longer?

Re: And they are off!

Wow! Your teeth really look great!! I posted a question a couple of weeks ago asking if getting braces alone, without an expander, could widen your arch. It sure seems to have happened in your case. I hope my teeth look as good as yours!

Does your ortho shave down front teeth to even them out?

I'm getting braces in 2 weeks. My three triplet daughters have been in braces for a year and a half. Recently when they went in for an appointment, the orthodontist did some filing of their front teeth so that all 4 of their front teeth would be about the same length.. I was kind of upset because th...

Ceramic braces on top, metal on bottom. Is this the norm?

I saw the ortho today to get images taken and was given an estimate of 20 months to be in braces. I'm 49, and am not exactly thrilled to do this, but my crooked teeth really bother me. Ortho said they were moderately crowded on top and moderate to severe on bottom. I'm choosing to go with the cerami...
