Re: Going Incognito

Back after a long break to update on my Incognito braces. I'm 2.5 months into treatment (six months longer than my expected sentence) and my doctor did some final tweaks. I was so stoked to be heading towards the finish line, but because anything that I'm involved in has to go tipsy turvy at some po...

Re: Lingual braces visible through thin teeth

I was able to see the metal a bit through my teeth when I first got my lingual braces, but at this point I seriously don't notice it. I even try to see it sometimes, and can't. I think that I will just be extra stoked about how white my teeth look when I get the braces off! Unless it is really, real...

Re: Depressed in the beginning?

YES! I was absolutely depressed for the first couple of weeks, to the point that my husband noticed and remarked on it. I was just so worn down by the pain of talking and the constant cleaning of my teeth. Plus the sudden dietary changes for those first weeks was a real bummer. The good news is that...

Re: Root canal pain?

Thanks, Parsley!
The pain lasted for about a day and a half this time, and has since gone away. I'm fairly sure that it's braces-related, even though it sure doesn't feel like it at the time. I figured that someone here had experienced something similar!

Root canal pain?

Has anyone experienced this particular kind of pain during their ortho treatment? About a week ago I had this pain come on out of nowhere while at work. I took two Motrin, which did absolutely nothing, took a third, which got me comfortable, and by later that evening I felt fine. I just assumed that...

Re: Does your ortho office have assigned assistants?

I think that my ortho's office has around 5-6 assistants. I've had three work on me, though it's usually one of two. Those two seem really competent and I like them a lot. The third was very timid, and the orthodontist ended up doing most of the work himself as he explained what was going on to her....

Re: overjet correction incognito

Good luck! I'm about nine months into my Incognito experience (will likely have them 24 months total too). I wish that I had gotten the bottom on first and then the tops a bit later...I can imagine that would have helped a whole lot. Good job on the mushy food! I found that days 2-5 were the hardest...

Re: How many teeth have you "waxed" at once?

I always, always have the bottom front six waxed, and often have the top front six also waxed, though I'm moving away from that now. If things are really bad and my tongue has a lot of sores (I have lingual braces), then I'll use an entire wax strip for the bottom and another for the top. I tried th...

Sorry that I'm late to the game! I'm in Tulsa and recommend Emerson Orthodontics. They've been wonderful to us.

Re: Going Incognito

Almost to day 250 with braces. I really can't believe how fast it's going. I know that I sound like a broken record, but it's going by quickly. I had my 5th adjustment on this past Monday. I got a bigger wire on the top, and then a bunch of chains and whatnot. I've taken to not asking many questions...

Re: Shortening "long face" - what are the options?

First of all, I think that you're a good looking guy as things stand right now. One of my doctors has a similar face shape from his nose to mouth, and I totally have an inappropriate crush on him (in part, because of how much I like his mouth). I honestly don't know what the limits of surgery are. W...

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.

I don't bother brushing after lunch. One of the only benefits of lingual braces is that if you have food stuck in them, ain't no one the wiser. I have eaten carrot sticks, and I am not sorry. I still use silicone wax all day, every day, like a whiny little baby. I'll probably spend about $150 on it ...
