Re: My journey (expander, then braces)
Wow that is quite an ordeal! I hope you find a new ortho that will listen. What retainer do you recommend or would get if you could go back? Sounds like the clear ones were a nightmare! And what beautiful results you have!!!! To be honest, I may never go to a new ortho. Lol. I should really have go...

Re: My journey (expander, then braces)
I haven't been on here in forever, mainly because I never obsess about my teeth anymore. lol. But I've been out of braces for almost a year now. Which it feels like longer. I had A LOT of issues with the retainer life. My top retainers were impossible to get out and were constantly breaking. The sta...

Re: Not sure what to do anymore.
I have considered going to another orthodontist to just get retainers made. I'm just not sure how to go about it. I went to both orthos near me to get consultations pre-braces so I'm not sure they'll help me. My ortho does make the retainers in the office. My top retainer now was a thinner plastic t...

Not sure what to do anymore.
Hi guys, Today I'm writing this in hopes for some help in what to do. As some of you may remember, I've been having issues with retainers breaking after only 5 months of being out of braces. This issue is not getting fixed. :( I had two cracks in my top retainer in Novemeber (one near my back molars...

Re: Not happy with ortho office after braces.
Thanks. They break because I have nothing to grab onto on the back corners. One side I do. The side that broke, I didn't. I've tried explaining this to them. They don't understand. They just cut the back part off because I guess i'm getting my bite splint now and I'll use that instead. She asked me ...

Re: Not happy with ortho office after braces.
Well the top retainer broke again on Sunday morning. I'm going in today to get a new retainer. I'm going to ask if I need to get new retainers because these clearly aren't working out. There was a huge hairline crack where my left side canine tooth was. That wasn't where it broke though. It b...

Re: Change in facial appearance after palate expansion?
My face changed after palatal expansion. I had 15 mm of non-surgical palatal expansion and when I compare my before and afters my face has changed for the better. I notice I now have cheek bones which I never had before. They're a lot more pronounced. My smile is leaps and bounds wider. I also can b...

Re: To newbies worried if people will notice
Haha I just think its funny that here I spent over $6000 on my teeth and it took forever for some people to notice. Lol.
Yes, it's worth every penny. But man, I was expecting people who saw me in braces to notice they were off. (Majority did, but I still get some clueless people. Lol).

To newbies worried if people will notice
Yesterday a girl who I've had classes with since May, said to me, "oh did you get your braces off?" "Yeah... A while ago. In July." Hahah. We both laughed and she said, "oh well I never noticed." Yup, that's right. Moral of the story: people don't notice things when it ...

Re: Switching ortho?
Assistants doing the majority of the work is pretty standard. Sometimes my ortho would ask me how I was, but sometimes he wouldn't. I only asked him a few questions during my time with braces and when I did I made sure it was before he left my station. You have to remember they have a TON of patient...

Re: Not happy with ortho office after braces.
Thank you all for your replies; I really appreciate it. I've been wearing them only at night because that's what I was told by one of the assistants at my retainer checkup. I was trying to follow their instructions in order to seem like a compliant patient. I do put them in some days for longer than...

Not happy with ortho office after braces.
Hi all. If you've followed my posts across various threads, you'll know that I got my braces off July 14th of this year. Less than a month after that, my top essix retainer chipped and they cut the retainer down. However because of that i had to pull the retainer from one side, which lead to the top...

Re: I'M FREE!!!
Amazing! You are proof that it can be done past the teen years. :D Thanks! :) I was really lucky. Hi Featheryy1221! I'm a 23 yo female with crossbite and open bite and am also looking into palatal expansions. I'd love to see the progress you made with your expander but I can't see your photos! :( d...

Re: Cleaning retainers when you're sick
Okay good to know it should be working properly. I'm following all the directions on the package. :) I wish I could go without the retainers, but if I even more than 12 hours without them, certain teeth shift (the joys of my ortho not waiting long enough for things to settle a bit more before he too...

Re: Cleaning retainers when you're sick
Sorry to bring up this topic again, but I'm stuck as to whether or not I need to buy a different retainer cleaner product. I was diagionised with a positive strep test on September 1st, after four days of the same antibiotics I had in July, they weren't working at all so I got a new prescription I h...
