Re: Can you have SARPE at the same time as double jaw surger

The first orthodontist I went to wanted me to have only one big surgery to fix my jaws. The second one recommended me 2 surgery. SARPE and Double Jaw. I took the 2nd because 2 medium surgery has/had a better chance of success than one. I had SARPE and 2 years later double jaw. I don't think it's pos...

Like the others said I do not recommend doing an exam 7 days after your surgery. You wont be able to attend it. You will certainly not be able to study for it before the exam.

Re: What is double jaw surgery like one week post-op?

In my case it was until now the worst week of my life and i'm 30. You will take medications regularly. I took Antibiotics (had a graft), Ibuprofen , I also had codein which I did'nt take/need. You will feel really weak and tired. You will want to sleep often and you will drool like you never did bef...

It depends on the surgeon. I was banded shut for a week. After that it was small bands when sleeping.

Re: Advice from athletes

I'm not the pessimistic kind of person and i'm someone who normally heal fast out of anything (my surgeon is even impressed) and trust me you wont be able to do anything 2 weeks after surgery and even less at the 1 week mark. You will be drained out of energy. When I say drained I say really really ...

Re: braces before deciding on SARPE?

from my point of view braces are kinda mandatory before SARPE. My orthodontist always makes you wear braces before giving the go for SARPE. I wore brace about a year before having the surgery.

Re: braces before deciding on SARPE?

Yes I had braces before SARPE. but my problem was not related to your I had malocclusion class 3 with a small underbite. Braces went as far as bringing my teeth together and almost cancelling the underbite but my palate was definitely too small and I had to get SARPE. They also removed 4 teeths in o...

Re: Advice from athletes

Dangerous exercises and activities are not recommended for 6 weeks post-op. If you take a dive and hit your head you could end up in hospital with the same surgery again or worst. Recovery is not an easy thing. You will be exhausted for the first 2 to 4 weeks post op so training wont be an option an...

Re: Were you physically sick after your jaw op?

I had nausea for a couple of days post surgery. Since I was banded shut there were not alot of alternative as anti-nausea drugs... the one you take by the other end.

Re: question for those who had upper and lower jaw surgery

good news is that I find popping less and less frequent as time pass and my jaw heals. I can open my mouth no more that about 2 fingers. My midline is still shifted on the bottom jaw about 1 or 2 mm. My orthodontist was not too worried about that and told me sometimes when the jaw settles, it moves ...

Re: Questions about post off lower jaw surgery. Going on wee

My bite has shifted a while after surgery just after my first orthodontic treatment post surgery honestly my bite feels more normal that way. My midline was perfectly aligned up and down. Now it has shifted to the right a little for the bottom jaw that means that the bite has shifted a little as wel...

Re: question for those who had upper and lower jaw surgery

thanks for your reply. It really depend on surgeons. Mine autorized my to chew last week. I told me just not to jump into hardstuff at first like steak or softbars (which by irony are not soft). I'm already eathing plenty of things like toasts and pork chops. There is no pain at all just some poppin...

question for those who had upper and lower jaw surgery

Hi everyone,

I'm now at 6 weeks post op and I have some small questions for those who had surgery in the past.

Did you jaw pop when chewing after surgery ?

When did you start doing jaw stretching exercices after surgery or how long did it take to return to full mouth opening ?

Thanks.

Re: Post-op tips

Well the midline shift is not abnormal. There is a gap that opened between some of my teeth and this gap is about the size of the shift so there is place to move back everything next appointment. He also told me that a perfect midline is possible but not always and that most of the time the midline ...

Re: Post-op tips

My orthodontist told me another 6 months for brace to come off. He also told me that the surgeon did his job so well that hew doesn't have alot left to do. I'm going to see my orthodontist this morning because since my last treatment brace treatment, my midline is off a little and I am curious to se...
