Re: Can't find one pic of wire ties on Ceramic braces.
These are quite different to @bikerchick85 As you can tell, its been six weeks and while my horribly grungy powerchain (initially clear, but coming off on Wednesday) is quite yellow, my white wire ligs make my upper arch appear considerably brighter. LOVE THEM!

Re: Can't find one pic of wire ties on Ceramic braces.
I currently have white ties on my top arch and a clear power chain on my bottoms. I LOVE the wire ties! I drink alot of coffee and I never have to worry about curry stains. I'll post a photo a little later on - but if the chance is there I say go for it!

Fun times with my chipmunks! In a front box configuration for the last 16 months 24 hours a day (or as close as possible).

Re: retention of open bite fixed with elastics
I would also love to hear this. I am being treated for an anterior open bite and my ortho is only using permanent retainers behind the teeth - she doesnt believe that hawleys or essix help - rather they can help to relapse  I am so worried though, all this time and pain, and the only retention ...

Re: metal ties vs elastic ligatures
I was also wondering about this. I had an emergency appointment to replace a back molar lig, the hygienist put metal ties on without any consultation. I thought she was taking a bit longer, and it wasn't until I was home that I noticed what she had done. I prefer the look of clear ligs (and I'm real...

Re: ShopGirlBraced journey ... anterior open bite
As promised Anna .... Here are the photos. They are in order - first day, three months and six months. The difference between them is that I have a thicker wire on my top arch at three months and then a thicker wire both top and bottom arch plus elastics for six months.

Re: ShopGirlBraced journey ... anterior open bite
Hi Anna Thanks! I didn't get the elastics until 51/2 months as my ortho was wanting to straighten our/align the teeth before I got the heavier wire and then elastics. Honestly, she hasn't mentioned them coming off any earlier than planned, and when you start get up close and from the side you can se...

Re: ShopGirlBraced journey ... anterior open bite
Thanks JeniK. The movement has happened alot quicker than I thought - for some reason, I didn't think they would to be looking like this for at least a year - so it makes it a little easier to bare, now that I know they are headed in the right direction! Goodluck with your braces, I am sure that you...

Re: ShopGirlBraced journey ... anterior open bite
Six month update Well its been six months with these babies on, and in the last week I have started elastics - in a front box!!! Not the most attractive of formations, but I can already see it's doing its job! My ortho explained that they were non-negotiable for night and as much as possible during ...

Re: Is it painful to have the thumbsucking crib removed?
I never had too much of a problem - the back brackets were the most uncomfortable. But it wasn't really that big of a problem - good luck!

Re: braces and thumbsucking
Hi Anna I haven't had the crib for quite a few years now. Funnily enough, although I stopped missing the thumb-sucking after about a week, they left the crib in for about six months so that there was no relapses, and when it was removed putting my thumb in my mouth felt so strange and foreign. Reall...

Re: braces and thumbsucking
Mi Anna, my teeth did suffer, and the bite is a direct result from my thumb sucking - I now have a 3mm anterior open bite which we are trying to fix through braces alone. I strongly suggest you get the crib. Anything that is for night time use only or a removable plate etc that you can put on yourse...

Re: braces and thumbsucking
Hi there! I also had one of the thumb sucking fence/crib. Thanks to that old habit I'm serving a year long sentence in braces top and bottom :-#) Honestly, the crib/fence isn't all that bad and you will be surprised how quickly you forget that you want to suck your thumb! I'm all for getting the cri...

Re: Small Rant.....
Hi Tobilei! I haven't been on here for a while and just saw that your teeth aren't feeling better yet - I am so sorry  The one thing that helps me LOADS was to purchase mouldable silicon ear plugs from the pharmacy and I would stick some gauze over the braces to completely dry them and carefull...
